The kids celebrated sukkot at home by creating edible Sukkahs. And then promptly eating them. Yum.

Ferry Festa

 

After a busy morning at Hebrew School and soccer, the kids enjoyed some time at Ferry Festa in Dobbs Ferry.

Basketball

The kids took a trial class at House of Sports, a new facility in Ardsley. Both had a blast with friends learning how to dribble and shoot.

Crafts Fair at Lyndhurst

Happy New Year

Clara and Emma helped Mommy make a round challah, brisket, honey cake and mashed potatoes for dinner.

In the afternoon, it was off to the family service, which was lots of fun- especially the apple, challah and honey right afterwards.

Soccer

The kids wee excited to play soccer in AYSO Rivertowns. Lots of kids from Ardsley were there and some girls from each of their classes.

They were split into team randomly and ended up in different groups- without complaining. It'll be mixed up each week too.

Back to School Night

Mommy went and heard more about kindergarten from each teacher. They each did a self portrait!

Shofar Making

Clara and Emma stopped by the Rivertowns Chabad to make their own shofars.

They were given ram horns and had to sand them, then cut the hole, shellac and dry. They even got keepsake shofar keychains.

Clara can actually blow it fairly well!

Hebrew School!

Yup. It's a right of passage that Clara and Emma are starting in kindergarten. They eagerly went, especially since they heard challah was part of it. Plus, they came last year with Mommy once a month. They knew almost all the kids and were happy to go. It's nice because they each have a kid from their kindergarten class and also two good friends from nursery school.

Twas the Night Before Kindergarten

Not really sure how this is possible, but tomorrow morning, Clara and Emma will get on a big yellow school bus and head off to elementary school. Kindergarten is coming their way!

It's been talked about in the house for quite some time- and mostly to prepare them for their first big separation.

They have outfits picked out ( including a huge negotiation with Clara, but she sort of won and will no doubt show her personality in the morning), backpacks packed, snacks ready to hi, locket necklaces ready to wear, camera charged and everyone in bed early.

Sure, they have a half day and will be home by 11:45, but it is a really big day.

Kindergarten Orientation

It is really happening. Clara and Emma are going to kindergarten next week. Today, they went with Mommy and Daddy to meet their teachers.

Their classrooms happen to be next to each other and they each got to visit their classroom and then bring in their sister and introduce them to their teacher.

They also got to try getting on the bus, buckling up and getting off.

They're off on Tuesday!!
