Clara and Emma's First Day of Summer Camp

This morning, Clara and Emma went to their first day of Mommy and Me summer camp, "Sun and Fun" at Kol Ami in White Plains. Getting Clara and Emma dressed and their bag appropriately packed was quite an exercise.

Mommy was glad Samantha, the babysitter could come too. Upon arrival, Clara and Emma each got a name tag and enjoyed exploring the classroom. They both played with the baby dolls and strollers, the puzzles and of course, the kitchen. They enjoyed snack of pretzels and bananas and both tried drinking their water from a paper cup- they did okay at first but then decided to spill it all over them. Mommy's not sure why, but they keep leaking throught their swim diapers. Mommy doesn't know if it is because they are too big or small or if she put them on wrong (since it happened at the beach too). After snack, Clara and Emma enjoyed the AMAZING outdoor playground which included cars, toddler size play equipment, baby pools, sprinklers and more! Emma loved walking through the sprinkler. Clara loved the water table and playing with the cups. At the end, they each got a camp t-shirt and came home to eat and nap. Camp is from 9:30-11 and is a perfect morning activity! Clara and Emma (and Mommy) can't wait for Wednesday!

In the afternoon, Mommy headed to Jenn's for a quick playdate with Anabelle and all of her Gabba friends.

Feeding Ducks in Nyack and Visiting Friends in Riverdale

This morning, Mommy searched for something to do and didn't find anything, so decided to try Nyack- a little town right over the Tappan Zee Bridge. While nothing seemed opened in the village, Mommy had read about the park.

It was lovely! Clara and Emma got to feed ducks for the first time (and thanks to the kind families that shared their bread with the kids). They learned how to rip bread and throw it. They tried it at two different points along the water- the second point, they were literally standing right next to the ducks!

Then, it was off the the playground. And, of course, Mommy saw friend Rachel, her husband Gui and their daughter Sonya. It is a nice, contained playground with equipment appropriate for toddlers!

After returning home, the ladies ate lunch and a took a nap. Mommy put the ladies in dresses for the first time this summer (and yes, barrettes, which they actually left in). But, these dresses didn't have bloomers and Mommy didn't put on little shorts over the diaper. Lesson learned. Mommy went to get Clara from her nap and Clara was standing there, holding her diaper, with a big grin on, and very wet sheets. Oh well. A new outfit and new sheets were required!

In the afternoon, the gang headed to Riverdale to see friends Bilha and David and their daughter Michal (Mommy's friend), in from Maryland. It was so nice to see them and meet Bilha's sister and her family! And, a special treat- Daddy got to watch the soccer game. Clara and Emma loved the apples and cookies they got as a snack too. They also got to color

Sunny Saturday Fun

Mommy and Daddy were thrilled that Clara and Emma went to sleep relatively easily at an early bedtime because of very early car naps on the way home from the beach and woke up at 7 this morning. They enjoyed breakfast and then running around with their sunglasses on.

The Gornsteins jumped right back into regular programming as Mommy headed to the gym and Clara and Emma took a walk outside with Daddy. Mommy should note that when she went to the car, she was startled by the large deer standing next to the tree. Of course, she screamed and scared the deer! Ahhh.. nature. When Mommy came home, the gang headed to the Hastings Farmer's Market. This is the place to be in the Rivertowns on a Saturday morning. In addition to the awesome fruits, veggies, meats and fish, there is storytime, music and more! Plus, so many friends were there! Friends Gwenn and her son Ethan, Heather and her daughter Allie, Sara and her son Gussie, Robyn and her twins Tessa and Sadie and friend Emily and her twins, Chole and Justin were all there! It was a nice way to be welcomed home from a week away.

After lunch, Mommy changed the ladies before their nap. Before Mommy changed Emma, she asked her if she wanted to go pee pee on the potty. She said "okay" and walked to the bathroom. Mommy took her pants and diaper off and Emma sat right down and went in the potty! Emma asked for a magazine and read while she went. After, she wanted to wash her hands like a big girl too. Mommy thinks that both last night and today's events mean that Emma may be ready to be potty trained.

The afternoon featured a trip to Target- where Clara decided she didn't want to be in the cart (she had already decided she needed to be in the cart, not in the part where kids ride) and chased after Daddy in the store. Mommy took the kids to Barnes and Noble, upstairs from Target, while Daddy checked out. Clara and Emma played with the train set as Mommy picked out a few potty training books for the ladies.

On the way home, Mommy heard Clara put together two words- "Daddy's Keys." Mommy and Daddy are thrilled with how much Clara is picking up- some of it not clear, but she has made significant strides.

After dinner- which featured yet another meal of refused food, so Clara and Emma got bread and cheese, the ladies had a dance party with Mommy and Daddy to the album from Almost Famous. While Clara and Emma were eating, Emma requested music. Daddy put some on and Mommy and Daddy danced together- and the girls laughed and laughed. They wanted to come dance, so out of the highchairs they came and they danced- around in circles, falling and getting up again. It was lots of fun for everyone.
