Today there was LOTS of banging and pounding as the construction crew arrived to take off and install a new roof on the house (it is a rental, so Mommy and Daddy are happy it is new and can deal with noise for a few days).
Clara and Emma played lots of Grandpa on the mountain (climbing on top of Grandpa) and lots and lots of peek a boo!
Mommy took the new carseats to be checked and found out that the new thinking is that kids should be rear facing until 18mths-2 years, so the new seats were put in rear facing.
In the afternoon, after a long nap, Mommy and Grandma took Clara and Emma for their first birthday photos, take 2. It was much better! Clara and Emma also rode in their new seats and seem to like them.
In the evening, Mommy and Daddy finally took advantage of Grandma and Grandpa Frome staying in the house and headed to see Dark Knight- it was great!

Yogurt Facials, Secret Adventure and 1 Year Photo Attempt
Today was a fun Wednesday. Clara and Emma woke up at 6:30 (well, Emma woke up Clara) and then both enjoyed breakfast with Mommy - Clara's yogurt facial was nicely done this morning. Mommy was mostly entertained that Clara insisted on putting her spoon in the yogurt container and then in her mouth- totally feeding herself. Emma even tried but didn't get much on the spoon.
Grandpa Frome joined Mommy, Clara and Emma for a walk in the village and some swings in the park before returning home for a quick visit with Grandma and then a nap. The little ladies went down for their nap at 9:10- a little later than usual and slept until about 10:30. Mommy has no idea if this means that there schedule is changing, but it is interesting. After their nap, Grandma and Mommy went to greet Clara and Emma and escort them downstairs for playtime. Mommy had to run some errands and left Clara and Emma with Grandma and Grandpa Frome who fed them lunch of avocado and cheese quesadilla (of course). Mommy bought a new juice at Whole Foods- and decided to try it today. Clara wasn't interested in the carrot/apple juice, but Emma did drink it. Mommy has learned that juice/water is not like formula, which had been fed on a schedule. Now that there is no formula at 11:30 and 3, and they get juice/water, Mommy thinks they might be thirsty at other times and needs to give them their straw cups.
After lunch, Grandma and Mommy took Clara and Emma on a short walk to an activity which will be revealed after Saturday. After a quick nap which took them both too long to go down for and was too short, Mommy took Clara and Emma to Sears for their 1 year pictures. It was not a great experience, so Mommy is going to try it again somewhere else. Two times is a charm, right? :)
Tonight, Daddy and Grandpa took out the infant seats and put in the new seats facing forward. Mommy is going to go get them checked out by the fire department in the morning. Clara and Emma really made great use of those seats. Now, Mommy is trying to figure out how to protect them from the sun give them toys to play with while in them since the ones from the infant car seats hung from the handle.

Welcoming Grandma and Grandpa Frome
It has been a very busy week and of course, the last week of Clara and Emma's "baby" year. The week has been highlighted with major teething from both little ladies and welcoming Grandma and Grandpa Frome.
On Sunday, Clara and Emma went to a 2nd birthday party for their friend, Rohan, at Kidville in NYC. They played in the gym and ate pizza for the first time. Unfortunately, Emma was very uncomfortable after the party and wouldn't take a nap in the stroller, so Mommy and Daddy had to make the tough decision to skip the party for friends Jordan and Spencer in the afternoon. Emma and Clara both slept a bit on the ride back to Westchester so Mommy and Daddy decided to stop in Tarrytown for some ice cream. While unloading, another set of twins stopped to say hi! After a stop at Main Street Sweets, Clara and Emma were hot and fussy so it was time to go home. Mommy even put Clara down for a third nap and woke her up to take a bath and eat. Grandma and Grandpa arrived just in time to say hello and good night!
On Monday, it was lots of fun to play with Grandma and Grandpa in the morning- an advantage of having them at the house. Clara loved to show how she can walk with the walker- and is always impressed with herself. Emma enjoyed having so many people to read to her. Grandma and Grandpa went sightseeing and Cheri came to watch Clara and Emma while Mommy did some errands. Tuesday, Grandpa accompanied Mommy, Clara and Emma on their morning walk along the aqueduct. Grandma and Grandpa helped Mommy give Clara and Emma a bath, which they loved.

Clara and Emma's First Birthday Playdate in Central Park
It was a big day in the city for Clara and Emma. Daddy drove Mommy, Clara and Emma to the Argentinean Consulate to see Grandma Gornstein. It was lots of fun and Clara and Emma got to see Grandma's friends- including Yolanda, who cleaned the apartment in the city. Grandma accompanied Mommy and Clara and Emma uptown to visit Emma's allergist. Mommy had a few questions about why Emma breaks out in hives around her face. Mommy probably didn't need to take Emma in, but it was better to just hear that she is fine and often, babies rub their faces with food and have sensitive skin , and therefore breakout and that is probably all it is. Mommy walked with Clara and Emma bu
t they weren't interseted in a nap, so Mommy got all set up in Central Park near the 76th and 5th entrance for the first of several birthday celebrations for Clara and Emma. Aunt Alyssa was kind enough to come and help out too!
It was lots of fun celebrating on a gorgeous day in Central Park with so many friends. There were five other sets of twins and three singletons! What a day. Clara and Emma also ate their first cupcake. While Mommy was trying to light the candle, Clara and Emma both were so excited that they sat on the box of muffins and tried to open the box of cupcakes! Emma shoved the entire thing in her face and
Clara pointed at it, picked it up and then decided to eat it.

Visit from Jen, Fun in Music, And No More Lunch Bottle
Wednesday was a very fun day because Aunt Jen came to visit. Mommy loves seeing her frequently and watching her belly grow! It was lots of fun to show Jen the village and to play with her!
Today, Clara and Emma slept until 7! Mommy was hoping to see an appearance of a new tooth for Emma, but it is still pushing through and she still has quite a "teething face." Clara does have a new tooth- it is her 7th and it a bottom incisor (afterall, Grandpa Frome is a dentist, so Mommy knows she needs to get this right.
For breakfast, Mommy thought it was time to teach Clara and Emma how to feed themselves with a spoon- since they have mastered finger food. A messy morning it became with yogurt! Clara got it fairly quickly and put her spoon in and made it to her mouth. She also liked to pick up the bowl and turn it over and put her finger in the bowl and play with the yogurt. Emma wasn't too interested in doing it herself and mostly just wanted to chew on the spoon.
While Mommy was out, Cheri gave Clara and Emma lunch. Mommy decided that they weren't really drinking the formula out of the cup, so essentially had dropped it. Therefore, today is Day 1 of no formula for lunch and instead, juice/water.
Clara and Emma love music class. Emma made funny faces throughout the class and shrieked a few times with joy. She loved chewing on the shakers. When the fish came out, Emma made a face and it came over to say hello, the fish knew not to go to close and lightly kissed Emma's toe- she squinted her eyes and schrunched her nose, but didn't cry this time. Mommy and Cheri have no idea what it is about the fish that upsets her.
Clara had no interest in sitting with Mommy, Cheri and Emma at class. She wanted to sit in front of the teacher- the whole time. She loved when Marci played the guitar and especially when she read Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

First Twin Playdate in Westchester
Clara and Emma both woke up a bit early, but Mommy and Daddy didn't go in until 6:45. The ladies enjoyed a breakfast of scrambled eggs, toast and banana- Mommy probably should have made some for Daddy too. After their nap, they were both excited to see Cheri.
For lunch, Emma enjoyed macaroni and cheese, while Clara wasn't interested in it again and had avocado and yogurt instead. Both girls drank formula from their sippys and again, didn't have that much, but Mommy is going to keep it part of lunch until next week.
In the afternoon, Clara and Emma didn't take a great nap, but Mommy and Cheri think it is because of their teething. After a snack, Mommy and Cheri took Clara and Emma to Rebecca's house to see new friends Samuel and Gabriel. Mommy met them in music class. It was lots of fun and of course, Mommy has lots of connections to Rebecca.. go figure.
Clara and Emma came home in time for dinner of chicken and spinach pancake before enjoying their bottle and going to sleep quickly, since they were so tired.

Oy Vey and Sippy Cups
Another very hot and humid weekend with temps over 90 degrees! Of course, Clara and Emma made the best of it, even with their teething. They are working on their bottom incisors and Mommy is able to see the wholes for the teeth, so it is just a waiting game. Clara and Emma can't keep their fingers out of their mouths and are quite uncomfortable.
Friday, lunch was funny as Clara and Emma decided to play with their cups- Clara put hers on Emma's tray and Emma took both of them and then threw them on the floor. Mommy took Clara and Emma to the art store to make something which will be revealed soon. It was lots of fun. In the afternoon, Mommy decided it was too hot for the pool, so it was off to the mall to meet Caroline and Eli. And, of course, Mommy had to check out the sale at Nordstrom, where Clara and Emma enjoyed the shoe department and were celebrities. Mommy even bumped into her friend Ali- it was a treat! Daddy came home early and taught Clara something new- he put his hands on his head to say "oy" and Clara imitated him..
On Saturday, Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein came to play with Daddy, Clara and Emma, while Mommy went to the city to play with Lisa and Jen. Before Mommy left, Daddy taught Emma how to clean her hands and now, she makes the motion. Emma is certainly the child that "does many tricks." Clara and Emma even got to show Grandma and Grandpa their favorite grocery store, Stew Leonard's! In the evening, Mommy and Daddy took full advantage and went to Half- Moon for dinner- yum!
Sunday was another scorcher. Mommy and Daddy took Clara and Emma in the car for a bit but they weren't interested, so much of the day was in the house. Clara and Emma both enjoyed trying on Daddy's hat. Clara seem to like putting it on, playing peek a boo and then taking it off and throwing it behind her. Clara and Emma enjoyed a new snack, fruit bars from Earth's Best and yogurt melts- they couldn't get enough!
Days 4, 5, and 6 of formula in a cup at lunch have gone well. They both drink about 1-2 oz, and Mommy will continue this until their birthday, when it will become only water juice (Mommy's mixture of mostly water with a little apple or pear juice.

Gornstein Girl Wrestling, Music and Swimming
It was quite a busy Thursday! Mommy didn't take Clara and Emma for a walk this morning. Clara and Emma both kept pointing at the tunnel, so it made an appearance today. Mommy thought it was very funny. Mommy would look through the tunnel and play peek a boo with Clara and Emma. Both Clara and Emma took turns pushing the tunnel on the outside too. After the tunnel, the ladies thought it was time for wrestlemania, as Emma pounced on Clara and the two of them just kept giggling. After a nap, Cheri arrived to change them and give them lunch while Mommy ran some errands. Clara and Emma attended music today and enjoyed it. Emma shrieked with joy, again throughout the class. She loved the maracas and the tent and was unsure about the fish- she seems to like the stuffed fish when it comes out but gets upset when it gives her a kiss. Clara sat in the middle of the circle and right near the guitar. She loved the reading of Brown Bear and bubbles. After music, Clara and Emma had a nap before Mommy and Cheri took them to the pool in Greenburgh to meet up with Caroline and Eli. It was quite a pool- with lots of shade and a playground in the middle of the pool. Clara and Emma love to swim and seem fearless of the water- especially as they want to crawl off even though it is too deep for them. They enjoyed a quick dinner and a bath before bed. Clara refused to be fed by Cheri or Mommy but instead preferred to sit next to Mommy and feed herself her bottle. Since she is on a faster nipple, she always finishes about 5 minutes before Emma. Tonight, she thought it would be nice to kiss Emma before reading her books and standing up by the chair.
