ENT For The Gornstein Girls

Everyone said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa Frome as they headed back to Maryland.

Clara and Emma both returned joyfull to school today.

All the Gornstein gals went to the ENT today. Clara went first, got her ear cleaned out and was prescribed a second antibiotic. She even gets to go back on Wednesday for another clean out. She was so good and didn't complain at all. Of course, the machine made noise and looked a little scary, so Emma cried the entire time during Clara's procedure.

Emma's ear is improving and she got a hearing test. There is a significant fluid build up and she can't hear out of the left ear now, so that will be monitored. And, Mommy got her ears and sinuses checked too and the good news is there isn't a sinus infection!

The gals fell right asleep in the car and took a long car nap. Emma and Clara had their therapies this afternoon and the gang finally made it home by 5!

Happy Thanskgiving 2010

Clara and Emma were very excited to have Grandma Kathy and Grandpa David and Auntie Alyssa in the house when they woke up.

Mommy, Grandma and Auntie Alyssa made quite a feast! Clara and Emma both ate their cornbread muffins, mashed potatoes and a little turkey. They also enjoyed all the desserts-the pumpkin pie, apple pie and bread pudding!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hannukah, A Bit Early

Thank goodness the kids slept through the night! Clara's ear is still draining from the infection, but she was good about putting the drops in and Emma marches right in to take her medicine as well.

Mommy had put some of the new hand me down dress up clothes in the bin (thanks to our generous neighbors). A flower dress and a Dorothy dress- Emma picked the Dorothy dress first (Clara wasn't too thrilled, since it is in blue and white- blue is Clara's favorite color). Mommy taught them the song and skipped around the house singing "We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz."

Daddy had recorded a version of the Nutcraker ballet and played it for Clara and Emma- and they both danced around pretedning to be ballerinas. It will be interesting to see their reaction when they see it in December.

For lunch, the whole gang headed over to the new diner on Central Ave., El Dorado III. It was cute to watch the kids march through in their dress up clothes (they asked to wear them to lunch) and order.

Since Grandma and Grandpa Frome are heading back to Maryland in the morning, a few days before the start of Hannukah, the family had a little celebration a few days early. After their nap, Clara and Emma joined Mommy, Grandma Kathy and Grandpa David to make their own beeswax Hannukah candles, a Menorah cookie and decorate it, and make latkes! It is still hard to believe that the holiday starts this week!

After dinner, the ladies were very excited to eat their cookie. And, even more excited for presents.  Some of the things they are thankful for include the princess dolls that go in the bath, Chutes and Laders, a mat that they can practice writing letters on and their pillow pets. They each got to pick which one they wanted-Emma wanted a bee and Clara requested a ladybug and their faces lit up when they opened them!

Two For Two

Clara woke up a few times in the middle of the night and complained that her ear was hurting. She ended up in Mommy and Daddy's room, where no one slept. In the morning, she seemed better, but that was with some tylenol.

Clara asked to paint- so Mommy took out the paint your own spinning tops and set Clara and Emma up at the table. They started singing "dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of clay..." They couldn't wait for them to dry and play with them!

By lunch, Clara was complaining that her ear hurt. Mommy knew that if she did have an ear infection, it would drain from her ear since she has tubes. And, Mommy and Daddy sort of assumed that she wouldn't get them anymore since she has tubes. Well, after her nap, she woke up and yep, her ear was draining and she had an ear infection. The doctor was kind enought to call the prescription. By the afternoon, Clara was feeling better and returning to herself.

All Together

Clara and Emma were very excited to have all their grandparents in the same place. This afternoon, the gang headed over to Grandma Silvia and Grandpa Sam's house to spend time together and eat dinner. Suzy and Mauricio and Ariella, Scott and Maayan were there too!

Mommy had another first and drove back at night from Staten Island. Daddy drove with Grandpa because it was late and they had never done the drive before.

Being Thankful

It is easy to reflect at this time of year.

Clara and Emma were highlighted in a sweet article about Thanksgivng.

When Mommy and Daddy went to get Clara and Emma at school, they were wearing their Thanksgiving hats- with little feathers- so adorable. And, they had lots of projects to bring home. There was a special one that each lady made called "I am thankful..." Clara's says: "for my mommy, my daddy, my toys, Kai, Emma, Abbay and for my class. And Emma's says "my painting, all my best friends, cheese."

The Turkey In The Stroller

Emma did not feel great and was up all nite- mostly with Daddy. Mommy took Clara to school and Emma went with Mommy to get the car's oil changed. During the wait, Emma joined Mommy in a Thanksgiving shopping trip.

Emma was excited to help pick out the turkey and due to space restraints of not having a cart and trying to get the shopping done, Mommy put the turkey next to Emma, in Clara's seat. Emma turned, suggested Mommy buckle it in and said "hi Turkey."

This afternoon, Emma finally started feeling better and right in time for Grandma Kathy and Grandpa David's arrival! They especially enjoyed making turkey hand cookies, decorating and of course, eating them!
