The Royal Wedding

Mommy has a memory of being in Florida at Grandma and Grandpa Frome's house and laying on the floor and watching the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles- so, yep, Mommy gave in and had to watch. Really, how could you not? No alarm setting- but Mommy was up around 6 a.m. and able to catch some of the ceremony.

Clara and Emma woke up at 6:40 and were able to catch the new Princess and Prince at the end of the ceremony, walking out and then getting in the carriage.

Nothing beats watching it with 3.5 year old girls who think they too are princesses. Squeals of delight watching them. The tiara, the dress, the blue sash on Prince William's suit, the sister carrying the train, the different crazy hats, the flower girls and the horse draw carriage.

At some point, Mommy will undo the dream of a wedding on the scale of what they saw this morning, but for now, it is all good fun and Clara and Emma will watch "the princess wedding movie," as Emma calls it for a few more days.

Mommy, How Do...

fill in the words, but yes, at 3.5 years old, they needed to know how babies came out. While driving in the car, Clara asked the question. Mommy giggled and responded, "out of your tummy." Really, that should have made sense. But, they asked again and didn't buy it. Somehow, Mommy got them off the topic.

Back To The Grind

With enthusiasm from everyone in the house, Clara and Emma went back to school today after being out for a week and a half for Passover. They galloped with joy into school and couldn't wait to see their friends.
Clara aka Kai Lan Rainbow Brite Gornstein and Emma aka Purplicious, showed off their outfits- Clara, decked out in Kai Lan knee high socks and her new Kai Lan shirt (thanks Grandma Kathy) and even Kai Lan underwear and Emma, in a new purple tie dye spaghetti strap dress.

It was great to see them hugging their friends goodbye after school. Mommy reminded Emma, who has been super affectionate recently, hugging and kissing everyone and telling them that she loves them, that she needs to ask before she hugs. It is still cute to watch.

In the afternoon, the ladies enjoyed a trip to the ice cream store and had so much fun sitting outside on the bench and eating it.

Dresses and Heels

Another easy morning of getting the kiddos dressed. Why? Pair no jacket weather and dresses with tutus and you've hit the jackpot! Emma and Clara helped Mommy and ran some errands and napped in the car.

In the afternoon, they had a blast outside on a sunny and warm Tuesday. They played on the swingset and on driveway with chalk. But, they loved most of all walking outside in their gowns and high heels.

Spring Planting

It was a beautifiul, warm Sunday and the perfect day for spring planting.

National Museum of History

Despite the rain, the gang headed down with Daddy to DC to visit a museum. Emma had thrown up on the way down, but was perfectly fine afterwards. It is possible that she did so because she had a yogurt shake that had milk and she hasn't had milk in months.

The kids liked seeing all the dinasaurs and looking at the butterly exhibit.

Picking Flowers In The Park

It is a good thing it is in the 80s today in DC because Clara insisted for the 4th day in a row that she had to wear her yellow dress. And, Emma, had to wear her purple dress.

Understandably, the kids were very tired after a late night and sleeping until only 7:30 am. So, they took a nap in the car around 12:30, but had a hard time waking up.

And, Clara's ear started draining indicating yet another infection. Unfortunately, this isn't a suprise since she has had a cold since the day she went off antibiotics last Tuesday. Let the games begin...

The ladies enjoyed a walk in the park with Grandma Kathy and Mommy and picking flowers. They loved seeing the ducks in the lake too.

There is something to be said for it being so warm out that they can just be outside and color, run around and have fun. Can't wait for more days like this.

Second Seder

While some more of the family left the Frome compound in Maryland and headed home to Texas, Clara and Emma stayed with Mommy. Grandpa Frome and Mommy intended to take the ladies out for a walk, but it was raining. The gals got to go to Toys R Us and pick out an afikomen present. They each got sunglasses- Clara picked Kai Lan and Emma picked Dora and each got a small doll with mulitple outfits. Both wandered around the store and discussed with each other what they liked and why and what they should put on their birthday list.

Clara came home and asked to go to sleep in her bed and did! When Mommy was ready to drive Emma around a bit so she'd nap and went to get the kids, Emma was sleeping on the couch and took a long nap. This was great preparation for the seder where they were going to get to stay up late.

Tonight, the Gornstein gals headed over to the Marcus house around 6 pm. Before leaving, Clara insisted on packing the Passover pillows they made at school, their stuffed frogs and their sunglasses - for "the darkness part of the seder," she reported. Really neat how they both understand so much this year.

Since both had napped, Mommy was hoping to even make it an hour at the seder. To everyone's suprise, Clara and Emma were so well behaved and actually sat and participated in the seder. Emma did the four questions by herself (with a little help from Mommy and Clara), Emma sang the work song, Clara sang the Frog song and they both helped with Dayenu. Needless to say, a very proud moment.

For kids that don't eat so much at meals or can be picky, they both tried things and enjoyed them. They tried egg soup, chicken soup, shnitzel and more.  And, they happily searched for the afikomen, found them (there was one for each of them) and got really excited for their afikomen prize - a box of chocolate lollipops.

It was a really fun evening and way to celebrate Passover.

Passover

With everyone at Grandma Kathy and Grandpa David's house in Maryland, it has been a fun and crazy few days.

Grandpa led a very very very short seder, but Emma and Clara got to do the four questions and sing their songs. It is certainly a different seder than Mommy grew up with, but with four kids under 3.5, it is hard to do too much. Clara and Emma really liked the darkness part where Grandpa had everyone put on sunglasses.

Emma couldn't get enough parsley in salt water again and loved the eggs. Grandma made quite a spread and it was fun. Of course, the biggest hit was dessert and the chocolate lollipops for the kids.
