Moved In... Finally

It has been quite a long week for the Gornstein gang. While everything was packed by the movers last Friday and moved on Saturday, the floors and the paint were still being worked on and it wasn't healthy for Clara and Emma to be in the house, so Mommy, Clara and Emma lived at the Newman's house (thanks Randi and Lenny & crew).

Mommy went in to find that Clara had thrown up at some point in the middle of the night, disproving the theory that she had choked on something earlier in the day causing her to vomit. She seemed to run a low fever most of the day and wasn't really interested in eating.

Daddy came to help the ladies move out and move in to the permanent home. Since there was a little work still going on, everyone headed to Stars for bagels. Clara and Emma didn't really eat the bagel, but preferred the cream cheese off the bagel and licked it off and tried to even eat the cup of cream cheese with a spoon. After a trip to Buy Buy Baby for some baby proofing things and to Trader Joe's, it was off to the Dobbs Diner for an early lunch. Eggs, fries, toast and more didn't interest either kid today. However, jelly seemed exciting as Emma licked the jelly off the bread and Clara tried to eat it with a fork.

On the way into the house, Mommy tripped and fell with Clara. Clara was totally fine and Mommy twisted her ankle. Mommy is just trying to take it in stride. After the ladies napped in their room for the first time and in the same crib to calm Clara because she kept yelling for Emma and was so overtired, the gang headed to Best Buy. Clara requested a "juice box" in the car and said it pretty clearly.

Clara and Emma loved running around the store and at one point, Daddy asked Mommy to watch both of them and of course, they ran in different directions giggling. Clara has really picked up speed and Emma isn't far behind. Clara and Emma found the display for Guitar Hero and picked up the guitars, microphone and drums and tried to jam. It was too funny. Clara also tried to figure out the Nintendo display.

Both ladies didn't really want dinner- oatmeal and bananas- usually a favorite. And, the bath was again a challenge. Daddy had to stand in the tub to help and at least Clara sat down for a minute. Emma refused to go in and tried to color with her bath crayons from the outside. Mommy and Daddy aren't sure what is going on. Emma found some of her blankets in a yet to be unpacked box and Mommy told her the name of the animal on the blankie was a hippo- so she kept saying "hi hippo."

A Two Outfit Day Times Two

It was finally a cooler here today- almost 30 degrees difference between yesterday and today.

Before gym, Mommy stopped in Starbucks and bumped into Clara and Emma's pediatrician who gave Mommy a compliment about being a twin mom- it was very sweet. Clara and Emma had fun at Great Play. They enjoyed the slide, swing, snap toys, fishing activity and climbing the mountain.

The ladies took a long nap from 11:40-2:45. Emma did what Clara did yesterday and woke up with a poopie that had gone everywhere- clothes, sheets etc. So, Emma needed a new outfit. Mommy tried to give the girlies a snack but they weren't interested. The gang made a quick trip to the new house to grab a few things. As soon as Mommy pulled out, Clara started to choke and then threw up. Mommy stopped the car in the middle of the street and ran to get Clara. Mommy cleaned Clara up and tried to clean the seat and the car too. Of course, Emma was scared and started saying "Mommy" and crying too. Mommy was glad everything was okay and tried to laugh it off as one of those things you can't make up. Mommy felt bad but cancelled the play date that was scheduled. Truth is Clara most likely choked on the rice cake she was eating. So, Mommy is going to limit car snacks to cheerios. Mommy knows that they probably shouldn't eat in the car, but isn't sure that is the reality of things. And, Clara needed a new outfit.

Daddy came by after work and brought pizza. Clara kept asking for more and ate some pear too. Emma didn't really eat too much. Mommy and Daddy know that both girls are working on their 2 year molars. Clara and Emma enjoyed some songs before bed including their new favorite, "Happy Birthday to You." Yes, really. They both love it and say "happy to you," when they are asked what songs to sing. Clara also said it for the first time tonight. She also said "chow chow" after saying goodbye tonight.

Clara and Emma's Playground Crawl

Clara and Emma had their own "playground crawl" today. In the morning, Mommy got the ladies dressed and took them to the house for breakfast with Grandma Gornstein.

Then, the gals headed to Riverdale to play with Naomi, Eitan and Micha and Andrea and Evan. It is Mommy's new favorite park because it had lots of ride on toys, a sandbox and toddler friendly playground equipment.

After a trip to Trader Joe's and playing with the balloons, Clara and Emma had some lunch and took a nice nap. Clara had one of those poopie incidents and it required a new outfit... gotta love those!

It was off to The Rivertown Play Group Playground Crawl at Memorial Park in Dobbs. Despite the heat, it was a nice turnout & at least there was a nice breeze. Mommy hired a sitter to help and it was great to be at the park with help. Clara is a real runner - just taking off! She loved playing with the sticks and dirt.

Daddy came over to help with dinner and bathtime- which was good, because they both stood up and cried and cried and tried to climb out of the tub (Mommy did bathe them one at a time).

Clara and Emma Visit the Bronx Zoo

Clara and Emma woke up at 7 ish and Mommy got them dressed and out the door to go to the house for breakfast with Daddy and Grandma Gornstein. They were excited to
"scoop" their oatmeal and eat bananas. Grandma and Mommy took them to Decicco's for a quick market trip. Mommy put her ice coffee down and turned around and when she turned back, Emma was drinking it out of the straw and saying "coffee... yummy."

Today, Clara and Emma went to the Bronx Zoo with Mommy and Daddy. It was a beautiful morning with temps in the 70s. They both enjoyed seeing the sea lions and clapped- which they knew from their book "I Can Do It." The ladies loved the Children Zoo and loved seeing ducks and kept saying "duck, duck." They loved the petting zoo too. The ladies also visited the giraffes, zebras, baboons, antelopes, and lots of birds. It was a fun morning.

Mommy took the ladies back to the townhouse the gang is living in this week and was super happy that the kids took a nap in a crib for a few hours. Then, it was off to pick up Grandma for
a Target run. Grandma told Emma to say goodbye to the lady, so Emma took it literally and said "bye lady, bye lady." Clara and Emma enjoyed dinner at the Dobbs Diner- and Clara mostly enjoyed playing with Mommy's food.

Clara couldn't get enough of "Wheels on the Bus" tonight and was making her hands go round like the wheels and smiling and nodding. It was very cute.
