Nursery School Update
This week in the 4's April 25, 2012
We had another busy week! On Monday, we read books by Eric Carle, ( The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Tiny Seed and Papa Please Get Me the Moon). The children really enjoyed listening to the stories and seeing Carle's unique illustrations. On Tuesday we went to SUNY Purchase to see the puppet show of three of the stories - The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, and Papa Please Get Me the Moon For Me? The favorite in our class was Papa Please Get Me the Moon!
Thursday was a very fun and exciting day for our class! We celebrated Israel's 64th birthday! We took our tickets and our passports and off to Israel we went! We went on an archaeological dig in Beer Sheva, we visited a kibbutz and saw a chicken, a rabbit and a turtle. It was so much fun! We stopped and bought something in the marketplace inTel Aviv and had snack at an outdoor cafe. We visited Ashley's Poppy at the Western Wall, and he told us all about it. We wrote down our thoughts and and put them into the cracks in the wall. At the end of the day we sang Happy Bithday to Israel and we frosted cupcakes and put blue sprinkles on them. Ashley's grandfather was going to to read Sammy Spider's First Trip to Israel, but we ran out of time. We hope he comes back to our class soon and read to us! Thank you to everyone that made the day so special.
On Friday we celebrated Shabbat with Jared's mom. Shabbat Shalom! Have a nice weekend!

Club Lunch April Update
Dear Parents,
During the month of April the Lunchers have enjoyed a variety of games and projects. First, we did some alphabet activities. We played Boggle Jr. Letters with the Fours, who impressed us greatly with their ability to spell out the words. We also had a word hunt, looking for words that began with different letters of the alphabet all around the nursery school.
We did physical activities, including an obstacle course using chairs, balls, a scooter, and other items for the children to work their way through. They loved the activity and were sad when it was time to stop. Another active game we played was “What time is it, Mr. Fox?” Each child had a turn to be the fox and tell the other kids how to move.
In honor of Earth Day, the children worked on a big floor puzzle of all the planets that Clara and Emma had brought to school. They completed it, and were all so proud of their accomplishment. Another earthy activity was painting with pine needle branches. It was messy but fun!
The month of May is filled with Club Lunch days, and we have more special activities planned, including relay races, a shoe game, dominoes, Go Fish, squish painting, and stained glass windows!
See you soon,
Laurie and Helene

Ice Cream Faces
When Mommy tells Clara " I love you," she says "I live you more than the whole world. Than the glassy, and that is space."
The kids didn't have school because of conferences. They had a blast playing soccer in the hall- and even stayed much longer to do so!
Their teachers shared great things about the kids.
After, a lunch out, there was time for an ice cream treat before their OT/ PT sessions. Clara had a very interesting way of eating her cone today- andade a huge mess, but she had fun.

Swimming!
Clara and Emma started swimming lessons at the Ardsley Middle School today. Clara was super excited and by the end, stepped up on the board and jumped in with some of the older kids- she had such a big smile in her face! Emma was a bit hesitant at first, but got more comfortable and stayed in the water and did all the things her teacher asked!
The lesson was at 3:45, so Mommy put them in pjs after their shower!

Lil Chefs
Daddy took the day off and drove the ladies to school in his car- they were super excited!!! They wore tie dye sweatshirts like Justin too!
The ladies love having pizza for lunch at Pizza and Play. Today was a treat because they were outside to play. All the 4s ate and were outside first!
Today, the ladies started a cooking class at the Ardsley Rec Center. It is a drop off class that includes a story, craft and cooking project. Today they made chocolate cookies and seemed to have had a great time!
They have been learning about Earth Day at school. Clara loves her puppet and Emma, not pictured with hers, said her puppets name was Recycling Rita. Emma really likes this topic and asks to recycle everything, is turning off lights and wants to help the earth. Tonite she drew a picture of the earth with a heart in it for her teachers.
