Let the Celebrations Begin

More pics from today to be uploaded soon. Mommy actually ran out of room in the blogger account!

Clara and Emma had a blast at their 2nd birthday party with Westchester friends. It rained all day- with a few minutes of sun- so the party was at the house. It was organized chaos, but the kids all seemed to have fun in the playroom and upstairs.

For the cupcakes, Mommy got Clara and Emma birthday hats. Clara and Emma looked at the two candles in each cupcake and were very excited. Clara blew her candles out all by herself and Emma followed. Emma tried and didn't succeed at first, but then Clara leaned over to help and Emma did it. The actual eating was a reverse from last year. Clara went right for it and shoved it in her mouth and liked it so much, she tried to eat Emma's too. Emma ate hers more like a little lady and was kind enough to share hers with Clara.

Emma also had her first poopie on the potty. She announced to Mommy that she was going poopie. Mommy asked her if she wanted to go on the potty. She said no. Clara heard potty anda said "pee pee," and ran to the bathroom. She just wanted to sit there, and Emma followed and finished her business on the potty!

Did They Read the Book?

Mommy is convinced that Clara and Emma read the book on "terrible twos" and decided to test the waters shortly before actually turning two years old.

This morning, both gals stood in their highchairs. Mommy asked them to sit down. They did not and Mommy warned them that they would go to their cribs. Now, Mommy and Daddy haven't done too many time outs and probably know the crib isn't the best place, but since there are crib tents there, it is the safest place for them- especially when both of them get a time out. They both ended up in their cribs crying for one minute. Mommy is not convinced that they understand the consequence piece and think that they quickly forgot. Oh well.

Emma and Clara have been playing with a new toy- "action" Yo Gabba Gabba figures. At least for now, these rank high on their list. They sat with them at dinner last night and joined them at breakast- sitting on the table across from their highchairs, while Daddy explained that they already ate and drank their milk -hoping it would coax them to eat and drink- not so much.
Emma said "I go find them" when looking for them after her time out. And Clara lovingly calls "Muno,"'Nuno." Emma knows all of their names and asks where DJ Lance is (he didn't come in the package). Special thanks to Jenn (and the Shotton crew) for these fun new additions to the Gornstein crew.

Pillow Talk

Mommy decided that Clara and Emma were ready to have a pillow. Daddy and Mommy purchased them pillows and pale green pillow cases to match their bedding last weekend. Mommy probably should have tried it a nap first, but decided with Daddy to just try it.

Emma loved the pillow. When Mommy and Daddy checked on her, she was clinging to it. Clara pushed the pillow to the other side.

Clara and Emma enjoyed camp today and got to play outside before it got rainy. Emma loved walking through the car wash- back and forth-and was wet from head to toe. Wouldn't you know it- today was the day that Mommy forgot the towel.

After a not so great nap, the gals headed off to Hastings Station Cafe for the relocated Playdate in the Park, of course presented by The Rivertown Play Group. Mommy got the ladies a muffin for a snack. When Mommy tried to break it in half, Clara was not too happy. Instead of a scene, Mommy bought another muffin for Emma. Both girls tried to take bites out of muffins that were way too big. It was quite a picture to see the kids trying to eat these muffins. They did eventually break off pieces to feed each other. There were two 5 month old babies there and Clara and Emma were lovely hosts and said "hi baby." Clara even tried talking to one of the babies and offered her some muffin. Two big messes later, it was time to run out in the rain and get in the car.

Mommy drove the gang to Scarsdale, a very short 5 minute drive from the house, to see Sharon (Mommy's former boss at Temple Shaaray Tefila) and one of her three kids. It was fun to catch up and just like old times. Clara and Emma enjoyed playing with a flashlight and following the light around and tripping over themselves as the looked up and kept moving the light around.

Before bed, a tired Clara decided it was hugging time and ran around trying to hug Emma, which resulted in generally tackling her to the floor and lots of giggles. Emma kept saying "I love you Clara" and "hug." Grandma Frome was on the phone with Mommy and can confirm this report.

Ballerinas In Training

Clara and Emma took a good nap today and woke up ready for a snack. Clara wanted applesauce and said the word, so Mommy gave them the pouches. Clara finished hers quickly and tried to take Emma's. Emma's response: "This is mine and that is yours."

After their snack, Emma kept saying "ballerina" so Mommy took out the tutus. And, Clara and Emma loved it. Emma asked for the music to be put on and kept saying, "dance on toes." Clara decided that she needed to hold Emma's hand and dance with her, which then turned into one of Clara's favorite activities, hugging Emma.

Then, Mommy gave them two presents that arrived, including a doctor's kit from Uncle Adam, Aunt Christina and Lucas. Clara and Emma started using the tools right away and put them in each other's ear and examined each other.

Even though it is very humid, Mommy took Clara and Emma to Willow Park, off of Wayside Lane in Scarsdale for the weekly Playground Crawl. It was a small group, but a great park!
