Ice Cream!
A special treat after ballet for the little ladies on another warm March day!
This afternoon, Clara and Emma enjoyed time outside with the sitter, Chelsea. They loved playing with the sand, swinging and going down the slide.
Tonight, Clara's new superhero persona returned!

Why Commercials Work
At a weekend trip to the grocery store, Emma pointed to something and said " let's get that, the commercial said it was good." Clara followed up with " I like the song from the commercial, please but it. It is going to be so good."
Clara also went to the fridge to help get the peanut butter and jelly out and said "I can't find the Peter Pie one" aka Peter Pan...

Clara and Emma's "Vacation"
Clara and Emma went to Grandma Silvia and Grandpa Sam's for an overnight visit. Mommy mentioned it to the kids on Friday afternoon. Clara jumped up and said "I need to pack." Mommy suggested she could wait. Clara added "You packed for that Spanish place you went to the night before, so I need to also." She and Emma got their stool, grabbed their bags off the hooks on their door and shoved so many stuffed animals and barbies in their backpacks- you would have thought they were going away forever.
Yesterday, Daddy drove all the Gornstein gals with him to work. The ladies enjoyed bagels at Daddy's office and visiting with everyone. And, they made a new friend, Mia- who came to work with her Mommy!
Grandma and Grandpa came around 11 to pick up the kids. Emma came home calling it a "vacation." Grandma added... "because we get to do whatever we want!"
The ladies had a great time sleeping in the "penthouse," (Grandma and Grandpa's 2nd floor bedroom), eating chocolate chip pancakes and then a special treat, going to the city to see a concert by The Little Orchestra Society. All of the children that attended were given toy horns- and of course, Clara and Emma haven't stopped playing them!!
It is amazing to be away from them and then have a conversation with them about things to hear what they've learned.Plus, Mommy and Daddy got to go out with some friends to Rye Bar and Grill.
For example, Emma shared that "Grandpa can't have sweets anymore. No more chocolate chip pancakes, because he is allergic to sugar." True (well, he is diabetic, but allergy works!).
Mommy heard that Clara had tried asparagus last week with Grandma Kathy and mentioned it at dinner. Clars shared "I like it. Grandma Silvia makes it with parmesan and I tried it and liked it too." That is two green veggies- broccoli and asapargus. Moving in the right direction. She even said it was okay to leave the green in the sauce on the pizza, "because you can't taste it."
Now that Clara is missing two front bottom teeth, she says a few words differently, but if you encourage her, she'll say it slowly and be able to say it correctly.
Emma's new phrases that appear in her language every few minutes include "Oh My God" with the correction to "Gosh" and "For Real."
Clara's latest line is "I'm a big girl. Big girls don't give up."
It is a busy week- the kids have a field trip and Purim!

Nursery School Update
This week in the fours March 2, 2012:
Welcome back. Off to a busy week!
Music with Marcy and Cantor Janet. With Marcy, the fours played the wood
instruments and marched and sang to the direction of Conductor Marcy.
The children played wood blocks and rhythm sticks. The fours
learned the word "tutti", which means with all voices or instruments
together. We sang lento, piano, forte, and vivace. Cantor Janet taught us some Purim songs and we sure to boo Haman when she sang his name.
We continue to talk about the sun, the moon and the stars. The class
discussed dawn and dusk, and what pretty colors one can see when the
sun is rising and setting. We look forward to our trip to the Hudson River Museum on Tuesday.

Wednesday was Topsy Turvey day! What fun the fours had being so silly.
Some children wore two different shoes, pajamas, different socks, pants
and shorts and two shirts all at once. Some wore clothes backwards,
silly hats, mismatched legwarmers , a crown and one four even had two
different colored legs on her pants. Last but not least we had Abby
wearing a pigtail and a braid. It was fun for the fours to stand up and show all their silly clothes. For snack we had breakfast of course!. We had waffles and cereal with milk. The children thought it was so funny.

Because it was Topsy Turvy day we listed all the T words we could think
of. We came up with 47 T words. We have to admit we looked at a picture
dictionary for some help. The fours were very proud of themselves.

We had yoga with Allison. It was great fun.We did lots of animal poses
and Allison says we are really good at it.
While talking about Purim we talked about heroes. When asked what a hero is the fours answered that it's someone who saves you, and someone who protects us from the bad guys. While we talked, we asked the class who are some heroes that they know:
Firefighters because they keep us safe
Policemen because they catch the bad guys
Doctors because they keep us healthy
Mordei and Queen Esther
Superheroes who wear capes so they can fly
And our favorite .... Our Moms and Dads!!
Shabbat Shalom
