City Day

Making best of Emma's restrictions ( no swimming) and no camp week 2, it was off to the city for an adventure with friend Ashley and Ethan (and their mom).

First stop was Pier 25 to check out mini golf ( 2nd day in a row) and them to the awesome playground with incredible climbing structures and super amazing water structures.

It was a walk to Shake Shack in Battery Park City and then to another great playground.

Mini Golf!

The kids tried out mini golf at Saxon Woods park in White Plains today. Other than trying to get them to hold the putter right, and not move the ball, they got the hang of it by the end!

Separation

One of the interesting things about the past week was that the kids were separated. Yes, they had gone to school of the other was sick but not really done something new without each other.

Clara went to soccer camp hardly knowing anyone and had a great time. She gave Emma a hug in the morning and was excited to see her after camp. It was also really great to see a once super shy kid totally excel at something and do it on her own.

It was also great that Clara got the trophy, but hard on Emma . Although of she had been in the group and not been awarded the trophy like Clara, it would have been worse. Clara was pretty good about letting Emma hold the trophy too.

It seems timely since they are nervous about going to kindergarten and being separated. It provided opportunity to discuss being different etc.

Lighthouse

There is an old lighthouse that is seen when driving over the Tappan Zee bridge. It is only open to the public a few days a year and today was one of those days. It is located in Kingsland Park in Sleepy Hollow.

The kids liked walking to the top, but Clara got a but scared being high up too.

After, it was off to a playground and some ice cream in Tarrytown.

Emma is still running a low fever from the surgery, but it is so much better than it has been.

Clara's First Trophy

Clara went to a half day soccer camp called Professional Soccer Camp this week. She loved it! Today, before leaving the head of the program said a few words and then her coach picked one kid that was a great player, improved and had a great attitude. Yep, it was Clara. Mommy happened to be sitting outside and heard the presentation. Emma even told Clara how proud she was of her.

Clara is excited about her first trophy. She's noted that it is gold, and that she needs to find a special place for it. She also wants to bring it to show her friends!

Pickin!

The Gornstein Crew took a day trip to Warwick, NY, about an hour away. The day started at Ochs Orchard to pick fruit. The ladies eagerly picked blackberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, blueberries, green peppers, eggplants and tomatoes. It was quite a morning and the kids really had a blast. And, they both loved eating the freshly picked raspberries and blueberries.

For lunch, it was off to the village for lunch at Fetch and then a short drive for ice cream at Bellvale Farms- with a beautiful view!

Beach!

Camp Mommy is underway, so today it was off to Harbour Island in Mamaroneck for beach fun.

Friday Fun

Daddy took the day off for a fun day- which was meant to be outdoors, but with rain predicted and cloudy skies, it was better to play it safe.

The morning was a trip to the Bronx Zoo. The kids liked the Lego animals, the seal feeding, carousel and movie.

After lunch at home and a game of Scrabble Jr, it was off to bowling and dinner. What a fun day!

Happy 5th Birthday!!

Five! It was a special day that started with breakfast with of course, a candle!

At camp, the kids got called up and the whole camp sang Happy Birthday! Mommy got number 5 donuts too for their camp group- yum! After camp, the kids enjoyed the playground with friends.

Daddy came home and the whole gang went to the "rock" diner as requested by the birthday girls.

They had a mini cupcake to end their very exciting day!
