No More Formula!!

Yesterday, Mommy questioned how she was going to register Clara and Emma for any classes in the fall. You see, most classes for kids their age are at 9:15. Usually, this is when they sleep, so Mommy is all confused about what to do! Yesterday, the ladies were tired at 9 and Mommy put them down for their nap- which lasted until 11! After lunch, Mommy took Clara and Emma to Buy Buy Baby to see if they could fix the Maclaren. They didn't have the part, but it was a fun outing. At around 1:15, Clara and Emma were tired, so Mommy put them down and the slept for a little more than an hour. After, Mommy gave them snack and took them for a walk to the park where they were entertained by some lovely ladies entering the first grade. Mommy decided to give Clara and Emma meatloaf for dinner. However, they weren't interested. In anything. Mommy tried chicken too and it just was thrown on the floor and used as fingerpaint. Again, Emma refused the bottle and Clara took hers. It was the last bottle featuring formula- 1 oz! Mommy did send an email to the twin club in Manhattan and Westchester about how Emma isn't drinking her milk and found out that lots of people have this problem. Mommy also spoke to the pediatrian and found out that it is okay and not to force her- offer it and give her yogurt and cheese and try other things, like yo baby yogurt shakes. He also said she most likely will be a skinny kid. Mommy was relieved to hear that it will be okay and not to worry too much!

Today, Clara and Emma woke up at around 7 :10. Mommy decided to see what would happen if they slept past 7 and woke up on their own. After a breakfast of waffles and banana, Clara had a little milk while Emma still refused. Today was the first day of only milk, no formula. She does take a small sip and then makes a face that shows her disgust of the taste. Emma was especially cranky this morning and fussy. Mommy walked around with her and even tried putting her down at 8:30. She just cried, so Mommy brought her downstairs and decided to take a walk. The ladies were perfectly fine and Mommy put them down for their nap at 9:40. They slept until 11:30! For lunch, Mommy prepared grilled cheese and peaches. Clara was most interested in the peaches and didn't really care for the cheese. Emma was most interested in the cheese and bread. Clara and Emma played for a bit with Mommy. Mommy was most entertained that Clara tipped over every toy she could and tried sitting on it- really- the walker, the activity table and the stage- she loves looking at everything 360 degrees and turning it upside down and sitting on it. It is very funny. Soon after, Denise arrived to play with Clara and Emma. Clara was having one of her days where she screamed with joy for fun. Mommy ran some errands and came back at 1:30 to a yawning Emma and decided to try and put Clara and Emma down for a nap, which they weren't interested in. Mommy thinks it was because the house was getting cleaned and Denise was around- it was too much excitement. So, cranky Clara and Emma skipped their nap. Clara and Emma made it to an early dinner and ate it this time. However, by the time Mommy got them upstairs, they were falling apart. Both refused the bottle and just cried and cried until they fell asleep. Hopefully, they'll have a good sleep!

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa Frome's House

Mommy and Daddy took Clara and Emma to Maryland on Friday to visit Grandma and Grandpa Frome. Mommy and Daddy were very suprised that Clara and Emma slept and were content in the car until 11:30 (after leaving at 8:30). With only one stop for lunch at a rest stop in Aberdeen, MD, the Gornstein's arrived in Potomac at 1:30. Clara and Emma recognized Grandma and Grandpa and immediately showed off their new skills of walking and talking. Clara and Emma got to take turns being a bat with Grandpa and loved it. Clara and Emma loved playing with the toys at Grandma and Grandpa's house- especially the house. They open and closed the door, lifted up the window, checked for mail and so much more!

On Saturday, Clara and Emma were treated to Grandpa's famous pancakes. He even put blueberries in them! What a fun mess. Clara and Emma enjoyed playing with their new toy that Mommy brought from home, the Bee Bop Band. They both loved picking up the sticks and hitting the drum. Mommy is convinced they knew what to do because of music class on Thursday, which, of course, featured drums and sticks. Clara enjoyed the Argentina gold medal soccer game on the big tv. After a nap, everyone headed to Celebrity Delly for lunch with Bilha and David Marcus (and a quick visit from Dina and Michal). It was lots of fun for Clara and Emma- they devoured eggs, toast and a pear. After playing and a nap, Mommy and Daddy took Clara and Emma to Rockville to walk around. While Mommy checked out phones at Verizon, Emma learned a new word, "up." She says "up" when she wants to be lifted up now. It is really cute. Clara continues to walk like Frankenstein, but is walking more than crawling. She is becoming more and more confident in her abilities!

On Sunday, Clara and Emma enjoyed playing with Grandma and Grandpa in the morning. After a nap, everyone headed to Bethesda for brunch outside. After brunch, Daddy got a gelato and offered tastes to both Clara and Emma. Emma wasn't interested. Once Clara got a taste, she wanted more (it was peach flavor). Clara and Emma took a nap and then did their 1 year old hand prints in plaster on Sunday afternoon (thanks, Michal!).

Get Ready for Milk!

Yes, it is true, it is time to start real milk. Mommy was going to wait another week or so until their adjusted age, but formula is running low and Mommy and Daddy don't feel like buying more, so... it is time to transition to milk. Mommy gave Clara and Emma mostly formula (Clara's Similac Advance) and a little milk. Emma finished her Alimnetum last night and Mommy is hoping that she'll be okay. Emma didn't really drink her milk, as is her usual behavior in the morning since the change to a straw cup. Clara drank most of hers. Both girls seemed fine.

After a morning walk, Clara nd Emma took a nice nap from 915-1045. Clara and Emma enjoyed lunch and Mommy took them to music. Today, they got to play drums, which of course they loved. They seemed tired at 1 and they napped until 2:30. After a snack and play (with their new toy which features a mirror and tells them that they are a star) Clara and Emma headed to visit Rachel and Sonya for a playdate.

Dinner followed with bedtime bottle, which featured formula and milk. Emma didnt seem to interested and Mommy kept trying to feed her- she ended up taking about 5 oz. Both ladies were tired and went right to sleep!

An Early Morning Visit to Stew's and Mr. Penguin

This morning, while the house was getting cleaned, Mommy took Clara and Emma for an 8 am visit to Stew Leonard's. Mommy would like to know why they don't have double carts like Costco (which wasn't opened). Mommy took Clara and Emma to see the animals and then bought some groceries. Of course, Clara and Emma loved the music.

Clara and Emma have finally been able to stay up longer. Today, Mommy put them down at about 9:15. They slept (to Mommy's suprise) until 10:50. In fact, Emma was still sleeping when Mommy went in to get Clara since she was crying. After lunch, Denise, babysitter to several friends in the Rivertowns, came by to help out. She was great with Clara and Emma- they just loved her penguin act (see the video). Clara also practiced walking quite a bit, still like Frankenstein. Clara and Emma took their afternoon nap from 130-3. Mommy was suprised and thought it would be an easy afternoon, but Emma cried most of it. Denise and Mommy couldn't figure out what was wrong- she even cried during her bath. She kept putting her head on the floor, so Mommy gave Clara and Emma their bottles at the usual time and put them down to bed.
