City Fun!

It was quite a day in the city. It started off with a stop at Daddy's office to help him work. Then, Mommy took the ladies to Rockefeller Center to the new Lego store. Because of its grand opening, there was a special program where everyone could help build pieces of the under construction "Big Apple." Mommy finally figured out the directions and somehow prevented the kids from knocking over the bins of blocks! They got to hand their block in and watch them be put on the apple- neat! Mommy even braved the store with the big double stroller and the kids!

A few blocks later, the gang suprised Grandma Silvia at her office and enjoyed lunch with her. Mommy took the ladies on another short stroll to Central Park and to Victorian Gardens- the little amusement park that is now at Wollman Rink during the summer. Because Clara and Emma are on the smaller side, there was no charge for them- only for Mommy! Woo hoo! Clara, Emma and Mommy enjoyed the truck convoy, the planes, boat ride and the fun slide. The kids were exhausted and took a nap while Mommy walked around.

When the woke up, Mommy was walking and Clara and Emma heard music and asked to go hear it - they both enjoyed dancing a bit! Since it was warm, but with a nice breeze, Mommy thought it might be fun for them to enjoy the playground next to the Met that has sprinklers. They enjoyed it but really wanted popsicles/ice cream.  Daddy met everyone and drove the gang home!

The Silveware Band

Camp, day 2 went off without a hitch. Clara wanted to know why there was no note on her backpack! The ladies leaped out of the car and were excited to see Mommy at the end of the day. It is a little wierd having no idea what they are doing, but they are happy...

Clara and Emma went into the silverware drawer and took out all of the forks and spoons. Proving that they are creative, they demonstrated how you can play a violin, drums etc with silverware!

Today, the fence was completed in the backyard!

First Day of Camp

Clara and Emma were ready with their backpacks on, sitting on the bottom stair at 8 am. Mommy explained that it wasn't time to go until 9, but they didn't care- they wanted to go to camp. Mommy spent the morning labeling clothes and preparing their backpacks. Mommy even safety pinned a note to Emma's backpack (since they both wanted to wait to pee until they got to camp to go on the little potty). Clara wanted something on her backpack too, so Mommy pinned the envelope with the money for challah on Fridays on hers!

Mommy decided to just start with the drop off- Mommy pulls up and they take the kids out of the car. Clara saw her counselor and screamed with joy and jumped right out, with Emma following. And, that was that.

The camp day is longer than their school day was- 9:15-12:15. Clara and Emma smiled when the saw Mommy and talked about their day. Clara said "It was hot," and Emma said "It was fun." They asked to go back again, so that is a good sign!

Vamos Argentina!

The ladies enjoyed visiting their summer camp in the morning for orientation where they met their counselors. They settled in very quickly and Mommy and Daddy could have left without them noticing. Mommy fed them lunch in the car on the way to Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein's in Staten Island to watch the Argentina vs. Mexico World Cup game.

Clara and Emma took an early and short snooze, but Mommy and Daddy were thrilled that they napped. the put on their Argentina jerseys and practiced saying "Go Argentina" with Grandma.

They visited with with their cousins and loved eating Grandma's food. And, great news- Argentina won 3-1, so on to the next round.

Cycling Around

Mommy and Daddy took Clara and Emma to Scenic Hudson Park to do some bike riding. Both were excited to wear helmets and get on their bikes. Both continued to improve and Clara even did a little by herself. Emma was able to push down and go around a few times- a huge improvement. After lots of encouragement, the 20 minute bike ride ended with some tired ladies.

Next, it was off to the Hastings Farmer's Market. Clara and Emma LOVED listening to Greetings From Anywhere and were little groupies, dancing around to the music. They also loved their giant chocolate cookie and the grape juice.

Worn out, they came home for lunch and nap and geared up for the USA match vs Ghana. Friends and neighbors came to watch the game and for a bbq. The kids loved playing outside and putting chalk in water and drawing with it everywhere- including the slide. Clara managed to take wet chalk and bring it down the slide making it a very colorful piece of equipment.

Hitting The Beach

Today, the kids enjoyed a morning at Harbour Island in Mamaroneck. Just about a twenty minute drive, Clara and Emma were so excited to wear bathing suits and to put their sand toys in the car.

The ladies loved meeting up with friends Naomi and her boys, Eitan and Micah. A highlight was floating on the dragon raft for a few minutes. Emma certainly figured out how to lounge on a raft quickly. Clara and Emma went straight for the water and made themselves comfortable in the sand. They enjoyed sharing snack and then finally tried out the sprinklers and enjoyed it.

And, Mommy and Naomi changed the kids in front of each other. The boys were standing there and Emma said "what's that sticking out." So, a real anatomy lesson began. Mommy and Naomi explained the appropriate words for private parts and what boys had and what girls had.

Arriving home, Emma turned around at the top of the stairs with a huge grin and said, "I have a vagina." The gals were so tired, Mommy put them down a few minutes early.

Park Fun!

Today, Clara and Emma met Hilary and her son Jack at Sagamore Playground in Bronxville. Sure, it was hot, but the kids loved running around! Clara, Emma and Mommy went to kick off a TRPG event and then met back up with Hilary and Jack for lunch at Blue Moon! It was a fun morning.

Clara had an ENT appointment in the afternoon. She was a good sport for the quick procedure to look up her noes and while there is a itty bitty bump of adenoids, they haven't grown back!

The ladies were so excited that Daddy came home early to play. Emma wore her gown and Mommy's heels (aka glass slippers) and kept telling the story of Cinderella (uh oh, it is midnight, my glass slipper came off."
