First Day of Camp!

With joy, both Clara and Emma (and clearly Mommy) marched into Camp Rainbow today. They are in the Super Shrimps group. The really good news is that after weeks of drilling it in, they knew that they had to wear shorts and t-shirts with sneakers- as in no twirl dresses with flip flops.
Clara and Emma missed the cut off for the full day and therefore, aren't with their friends from school, but are in a group with two other sets of twins, one that they know. And, they'll meet other kids that they'll go to school with in the future!

They had huge smiles when Mommy came to get them and seemed to have a really good day filled with games, dancing, playing outside and of course, snack. Emma told Mommy that the counselors didn't know the right chicken dance because they had different words.

On the way to swimming, two very cranky ladies were unhappy about the shoes they were wearing and were both screaming and pulling on Mommy. Somehow, Mommy got them out the door and locked it behind her- without thinking. You see, Mommy parked the car in the garage, which she hasn't done in weeks. And the keys were in the car. No way back in the house and it was just 3:30.

So, the kids played in the back and Mommy alternated between tears of embarassment and frustration and laughter about how silly it was. The Konigs came home from their trip, where Mommy thought the key was, and unfortunately it wasn't. But they invited the kids to play and they were happy to do so. Daddy came home by 5:45 and it was back on track. Lots of lessons learned!

Dental Check

Clara and Emma went to see Dr. Aimee today. Emma picked out a rock from the front of the house to hold and brought her blankie to help her be "brave." Emma cried for about 15 seconds, but both kids were outstanding.

They happily sat down and brushed their teeth in front of the mirror. And, as Emma has been doing recently, she performed in front of the mirror as well- making faces, talking to herself etc. They got their teeth painted pink to show where plaque was and then Mommy got to brush their teeth more. They both got their teeth cleaned and examined and got good reports- yay!

When it was Emma's turn, Clara took the rock and gave it to Emma and held her hand. It was a proud moment.

The afternoon was a disaster as both were totally exhausted and didn't want to nap. Mommy finally put them in the car and they did fall asleep right away, but it wasn't enough and the afternoon had whining and crying that gave Mommy and Daddy headaches.

Hopefully, with the start of camp in the morning and being back on a schedule, things will settle down.

Little Fishies

Clara and Emma enjoyed swimming at their friend Hayden's pool this morning and had "lunch bunch" with some of their other school friends there.

They both put on their swimmies (arm floats) and were very comfortable in the water. Clara was happy to jump in even- without Mommy being anywhere near her- and swim around and stick her head under water several times. By the end of the summer, she'll probably be swimming on her own!

Emma also spent the time in the water with her swimmies and tried swimming around too. She loved (a little too much) playing "save me" and let the boys hand her the swim noodles to save her. Yes, really.

And, Mommy took them to the swim club and tried to get them to rest. While they didn't nap, they did relax for a bit before jumping up and playing in the sandbox with the big kids and enjoying some time in the kiddie pool.

Boy oh boy were they exhausted, but they made it through the day and went right to sleep.

Bye Bye Beach

This morning, the gang headed back home after a wonderful week away.

Overall, this vacation to Bethany was easier in the past because the kids were incredibly behaved, napped everyday!! and played nicely together. Plus, it was lots of fun to be with Grandma Kathy and Grandpa David.

The drive back wasn't bad and the kids both napped. And, before going home, everyone enjoyed lunch at the Dobbs Diner before going home to unpack.

Taking An Ice Cream Bath

The kids were up very early, so Mommy took them to the beach early to dig and build castles. They had a blast! After the beach, it was off to the pool. Clara and Emma loved being in the water.

The late afternoon featured a last trip to Bethany's village for dinner at Penguin Diner and ice cream- where they essentially took a bath in their melting ice cream cones! Grandma Kathy also bought some special Fisher's Popcorn for everyone to taste-yum!

Rainbow!

It was another beautiful, sunny and warm day. The ladies loved their walk (well, they got pushed in their stroller) to the Bethany with Mommy and Grandpa for donuts for them. The gang spent the morning on the beach and enjoyed the breeze coming off the water.
After a few games of Whac A Mole and some rides (helicopter for Clara, motorcycles for Emma, swings and fire trucks), it was a last trip to Grotto's in Rehoboth. Clara and Emma gave a performance of song and dance for the boardwalk before stopping to enjoy some ice cream.

It didn't rain, but a rainbow appeared back in Bethany- just in time for the ladies to see! Grandpa joined for kite flying and Clara and Emma got to show off their new skills!

The Donut Castle

Thursday featured the sand castle building contest at Sea Colony.  Clara and Emma, with help from Daddy, built a donut castle.

After dinner in Rehoboth (and no trip to the rides!) the gang enjoyed some Annie's Banannies. Grandma joined the gang for the bonfire which featured roasting marshmallows- which should be noted- Mommy did as a kid when she went to Sea Colony. Mommy brought vanilla wafers and some chocolate to help make the s'mores. Yummy! After, the gals tried their hand at kite flying and were good at running- the nice wind didn't hurt either!
