Clara and Emma went to their first parade to mark Memorial Day. Clara and Emma woke up much earlier than usual (6 am - they are normally up around 7:20-7:45). The gang loaded up the wagon and took a walk down the hill to the park and had snack there and watched things get set up for the 10 am parade. The ladies walked back from the park to the corner of Eastern and Ashford Avenue- the main street running through Ardsley and met up with the neighbors. Clara and Emma were so excited to see them and share their lemonade that some smart kid sold for $1 a glass!!
The parade featured cars with veterans and brownie, girl scout, boy scout troops etc.and followed by a few police cars, fire trucks etc. Short, sweet and really nice. At the end, they have a ceremony, but it was hot, so the gang headed up the hill to the house. Clara got a second wind and ran up a big hill and was awarded the gold medal.
This afternoon, the ladies had their first trip to Friendly's for ice cream. The each got a cone that has a happy face on it and were so excited! And, they wanted to sit with Daddy too. Good news about Emma mostly wanting to be a lefty is that they don't bump arms when eating. Yum!!
After some time enjoying the sand table in the backyard and the swings, Daddy grilled up some yummy food to wrap up the weekend. As Emma said, "that was the best food ever, Daddy."
