Clara Cruises!

Mommy thought she saw it yesterday, but it was confirmed this morning. Clara can cruise! Clara pulled herself up while holding on to the couch and moved along the side of it to reach the remote. Mommy wanted to show Daddy this new trick so she put the remote on the couch again and Clara cruised!!

In other news, while Clara was being a bat (she loves being held upside down and often throws herself back for more), Daddy noticed that in addition to the top tooth that has started to break through, there are about three more top teeth ready to come in!

Emma is still working on pulling up. She also is teething and this morning, Mommy let Emma be a bat, which she doesn't do often because Emma will usually spit up, but hey, why not. Emma loved it and Mommy saw that Emma will be getting some bottom teeth soon!

Stand Up, Stand Up

Last night, Mommy went out with some of her twin mama friends (and one honorary one). Since the bar that the gathering was at was closed, they ended up at Dorian's- and still had so much fun!

It is another rainy day and Mommy is bummed. Emma woke up at 6 and then Mommy put her in the stroller and didnt move it and Emma slept until 645, when Clara woke up. The girls had solids first and then a bottle before napping from 8:30-10:40 or so. Playtime was mostly Clara and Emma practicing standing. Clara is holding on to the couch with one hand and today, Mommy helped her to walk a bit.

Rainy Day

It is a rainy, dreary day in NYC, but Clara and Emma have been very smiley! Emma woke up today at 6:15, which is improved from the previous weeks. The girls both took very long naps, from about 845-1030. It gave Mommy a chance to do all the things to prepare for the move! The girls played nicely together, but didn't really want to eat their solids or the bottle and went down again around 1230 until 2. After more playtime, cheerios and a bottle, the girls went down for another nap around 345... and are still napping.... Mommy is going out with her mommy friends tonite! Clara seems to like going under the exersaucer now to try and escape the play area!

Visit with Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein and Lots of Daddy Time

Clara and Emma enjoyed a nice weekend with lots of activities. On Saturday, Mommy went to pilates with Lisa and then to EJs for the annual matza brei lunch with Lisa and Jen. While Mommy was out enjoying herself, Daddy took the girls for a walk and made sure they took naps. In the afternoon, Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein arrived to visit. They just returned from Argentina and brought some lovely gifts. Clara and Emma showed off their crawling and standing skills. They also loved playing around and giggled all afternoon. In the early evening, Mommy and Daddy went out to Uptown for drinks and dinner. Hours later, when Mommy and Daddy returned, Grandma shared stories of how Clara went to sleep and Emma thought it was time to play!

On Sunday, Mommy went out again without the girls. She started the day at a twin fitness class led by her friend Jill and then went to Nadia's shower at Alice's Teacup. Mommy even stopped at the new Magnolia Bakery on the UWS to get Daddy some nice treats to break Passover with! While Mommy was out, Dara came over to play with the girls. Emma started to pull herself up on the couch- which is Clara's favorite activity. Clara and Emma were a bit cranky in the afternoon and didn't play too much after they were put down for bed.

Double Vision

Today was a day filled with twin friends. Clara and Emma started the day early again. Emma woke up at 5 and then went back to sleep, waking at about 6:15. Then, she joined Mommy and Daddy in their bed so that Clara could sleep longer. After enjoying breakfast and playing with Daddy, Clara and Emma took a nice nap. When they woke up, Yolanda had arrived to clean the apartment, but not before she played with the girls. Everytime Emma sees Yolanda, she smiles. After a quick walk and visit with James and Claire, the other twins in the building, the girls ate lunch and then headed out for the afternoon. In the park, Mommy met up with her mommy friends and their twins-Stephanie (Henry and Isabel), Monica (Matthew and Lauren), Elisabeth (Henry and George) and Mindy (Benjamin and Madeline). It was quite a site. Clara and Emma enjoyed crawling around and visiting everyone, taking toys away, and getting a little dirty. Clara seems to feel comfortable crawling in the grass while Emma isn't interested. After enjoying time in the grass, the kids all needed to walk. People did not know what to do as the multiple twin strollers went by! Mommy said goodbye to everyone and then went to meet Judith and her twins before they head to Europe on vacation. After a stop for yogurt at Galaxy, all the ladies headed up to 86th street. Mommy said goodbye and took Clara and Emma home for dinner and evening activities.

Twin Teething, Lots of Dr. Visits, Annie's Last Day

Mommy still wants to know how it is possible for fraternal twins to get teeth at the exact same time. Clara and Emma are both cutting their top front teeth. Clara doesn't seem too bothered, but Emma is having a tough time. On Tuesday night, she woke up several times and while she wanted to go to sleep, couldn't.

Tuesday was a day of unpacking and getting ready for the move to Dobbs Ferry in two weeks. Mommy did take Clara and Emma to Hi Life for Tuesday lunch with Monica- Deborah is in London for 3 months an Michelle moved to LA. The moving company came to give Mommy and Daddy an estimate. It helped Mommy realize how much there is to do! Mommy took the girls down in the late afternoon after dinner to he lobby to play with building friends and to greet Daddy since it was so nice outside!

Yesterday was a very busy day for Emma as she had several dr. appointments while Clara went along for the ride. The morning started at the allergist to test Emma for a milk allergy. It has been assumed that she has one but Mommy wants to know for sure. After the test, Emma had to get blood taken out of her arm. It upset Mommy very much, but Emma was a trooper. Later in the day, Emma went to the pediatrican to make sure she didn't have an ear infection since she kept pulling on her ear. Emma just had lots of wax! She was weighed with clothes and a diaper and came in at 17 lbs. Mommy thinks Clara is about 19 lbs. The good news is that after trying motrin instead of tylenol, Emma slept until 5 and then after a quick diaper change, until 545. Mommy and Daddy think it is a combination of her first diaper rash (which is awful) and teething which is making her wake up.

Today was Annie's last day with Clara and Emma. The girls gave Annie a album filled with photos and a margarita set- so she could enjoy a nice drink after a long day. Annie gave the girls a fun new toy and beautiful dresses. Annie took the girls on a nice walk to the park. Since it is so warm, Clara and Emma are wearing their new dresses that Aunt Christina (and Uncle Adam and Lucas) gave them. They look lovely!

Passover at Grandma and Grandpa Frome's House

On Thursday, Clara and Emma drove with Mommy and Daddy to Potomac to Grandma and Grandpa Frome's house. The drive went well and after a stop for a walk and lunch at the Clara Barton stop (Mommy knows this because she told Clara that they were stopping at a place just for her), and one other brief diaper change stop, the Gornstein family arrived at about 2. At the rest stop, the girls sat in highchairs and ate their cheerios. Emma also tried to eat the table, but Mommy had covered it! Grandma gave Clara and Emma tupperware to play with and they sat on the kitchen floor banging it and eating it. After a settling in, Grandma and Grandpa Frome joined Clara and Emma and Mommy and Daddy on a walk in the park. Clara and Emma enjoyed playing with the toys and crawling around all the space. They did a nice job of sleeping through the night in the pack n' plays (which made Mommy and Daddy very happy).

On Friday, Mommy and Daddy fed Clara and Emma in a highchair and booster seat. It was a new set up from the bumbo seats Clara and Emma use at home. The girls took a nice morning nap while Mommy and Daddy helped Grandma clean up for Passover. For lunch, Grandpa joined Mommy and Daddy in taking Clara and Emma to Bethesda for lunch. In the afternoon, Aunt Alyssa arrived and Clara and Emma were excited to play with their Auntie. For dinner, Grandpa and Daddy decided to feed the girls outside even though Mommy said it would be messy. While it was fun, the girls needed a bath afterwards. Before going to bed, Clara and Emma helped light Shabbat candles. Mommy also noticed the top front tooth starting to come in for Emma.

Saturday was another very exciting, full day. In the late afternoon, Uncle Adam, Aunt Christina and cousin Lucas arrived from Houston. Clara and Emma were so excited to meet Aunt Christina and Lucas. Lucas is crawling and pulling up to standing and the girls adjusted to having boy around pretty quickly. The girls enjoyed their first seder in the early evening. They wore dresses that came with a cute hair accessory- and they actually kept it on! They wore their matzah bibs. They participated in the seder with puppets that Aunt Christina brought to help tell the four questions. They got Leap Frog Tad and Lily for afikomen presents (get it, frogs) and a book about Passover. They also read the book Aunt Alyssa brought for them and the soft book that Mommy had, so they were all ready to go with multiple haggadahs, just like Grandpa! Emma seemed to have taken a liking to the taggie blanket (thanks Aunt Jen and Uncle Steve) and looked for it in her pack n' play.

Sunday, Lucas joined Clara and Emma for breakfast and playtime. Little did they know what a fun-filled day it would be. After a nap, everyone gathered for a professional photo shoot. It was wonderful to get photos of everyone together! Mommy and Daddy realized that Emma had been banging together toys and suddenly was clapping and seems to enjoy doing it. After lunch and a nap, the girls greeted Chad and Sandy, Rachel, Craig and Lucy, cousins Jenn and Jack and Max, the Marcus family, David Levenson and the Raphaels. It was so nice to see everyone, but Clara and Emma were exhausted. Clara continued to love being on Grandma's exercise ball, while Emma liked to crawl into it. Clara and Emma also loved doing "rocketship" with Uncle Adam. Mommy also found that having Aunt Christina available to help change Emma especially was very helpful. Lucas loved taking Clara's sippy cup and enjoyed Clara and Emma's icy teethers. For the seder, Great Uncle Mort, Great Aunt Beth and cousins Pam and Soturn joined. Uncle Adam's friend Mark came again for the food, but the girls were asleep by the time he arrived. For the seder, they wore the matzah onesies that Aunt Christina bought for them and the bibs that Aunt Alyssa gave them. The girls read their story and tried to follow along with the play, where Mommy and Daddy shared the role of God. The girls had a tough time falling asleep, but finally did and slept through the night.

Today, Clara and Emma said goodbye to everyone in Maryland and headed home. They did very well and slept most of the way. Daddy had to do some work, so Mommy took the girls to the store. Mommy and Daddy think the girls are excited to have more space in the new house after experiencing it in Maryland.
