Clara's Surgery

After lots of calls with the insurance company, hospital and doctor's office, Clara's surgery was today. She had tubes put in and adenoids taken out. It also turns out she had a double ear infection, so they treated her for that too. Clara was a star and Mommy and Daddy are super proud of her. The hospital was amazing and Clara had her own nurse during recovery. She even got to watch Elmo, which made her very happy. Clara was released by 12 and home soon after.

At home, Grandma and Grandpa Frome taught Emma her middle name and she walked around saying "Emma Lily." She also picked up the work "ok"- like when Mommy asked her if she wanted pear and she said "ok."

The Gornstein gang thanks everyone for their thoughts and support during Clara's surgery and Emma's surgery last month. Thank you!

The Gornsteins Own a New House

Today, Daddy and Mommy went for a walk through and then to the closing for the new house. Grandma and Grandpa Frome played with Clara and Emma and taught the ladies "I'm a Little Teapot."

While the gang moved to Westchester last May, Mommy and Daddy rented the house until they could find one to buy. In late April, Clara and Emma are excited to move to Ardsley, only a few minutes from their current home in Dobbs. The new home is a contemporary home and includes a HUGE playroom for Clara and Emma.

Daddy came up with a great idea. If anyone is interested in sponsoring a room- buying furniture, appliances, a lighting fixture or even a chair, Mommy and Daddy will be happy to discuss naming rights. Interested? Email Mommy.

Here are some photos from the site with the previous owners furniture.

On Friday afternoon, Mommy took Clara and Emma to the park. The ladies enjoying using Sebastian's chalk (thanks!) and coloring the pavement. It was fun to play in the park with so many friends. Mommy ran around after the kids and knows that it couldn't have been done without the help of all the friends in the park. Clara loved to try going down the slide head, swinging and walking over to the stairs.

Mommy decided to be just like Clara and Emma and got herself an ear infection. Yes, that is right. Mommy also thought that you don't get them as an adult. Well, they are rare and it was bad! So, Mommy is joining Clara and Emma on a course of antibiotics.

Emma helped Daddy make lunch on Saturday and kept the spoon- even trying to eat with it. Even though Mommy was tired and not feeling great, Mommy and Daddy did go out to X20 for their birthday dinner on Saturday night.
Clara and Emma greeted Grandma and Grandpa Frome with joy on Sunday morning. In the afternoon, Clara and Emma went to the grocery store with Grandma and Mommy. Clara and Emma also enjoyed their new favorite activity- "drive, drive." They can't get enough of turning the wheel and pressing all the buttons!

Clara's Pre-Op Visit

Today, Mommy wasn't feeling great, but the show still must go on. Clara had a dr. appointment to clear her for surgery next week. Clara weighed in at 21 lbs, 6 oz. The dr. checked her ears and they had fluid. Clara had an upper respitory infection and to be sure that she can have her surgery next week, the dr. gave her antibioitcs- zithromax. Mommy also had the dr. look at Emma since she has had a cough and runny nose. Emma's ears also have fluid, so Mommy is going to keep an eye on Emma.

The ladies were very tired and fell asleep in the car on the way home. They ended up napping from 10-12:45. Interstingly, this is the longest nap they've taken in weeks- since they moved to one nap.

Mommy took the ladies on errands including CVS and the grocery store. Of course, Clara and Emma got a bagel and made lots of friends. Emma noticed a woman drinking coffee and kept saying "coffee."

They made a mess of the mac and cheese with carrot puree and spinach pancakes, so Mommy had to give them a bath. And, they went to sleep at 5:45 without a problem!

Lovin' The Rivertown Play Group Activities

Today was a busy day for Clara and Emma as they made appearances as two of The Rivertown Play Group's events.

First, Clara and Emma went to a Musical Munchkins trial class. Emma went right up to the box of chiquitas and started taking them out and shaking them. Clara also joined in. It was like old times. This was the first class that Mommy took with Clara and Emma after moving to Dobbs. Of course, the drum came out and Emma said "drum," and couldn't have been happier pounding on the drum. It was much different than last summer because Emma now walks- and followed Mommy around in the circle. Clara wanted to be carried a little and then also followed along. The bubbles are always a hit and this time were too! Emma screamed "bubbles" and "pop." After class, while Mommy was trying to put on everyone's jacket, Clara and Emma decided that it was fun to play with the older nursery school kids. Mommy explained that this was where they'd be going next year and they could play then, but this wasn't for them. Of course, there were cars and ride ons, so Mommy was not going to be heard.

Then, Mommy took Clara and Emma to Take Back the Afternoon. The ladies were quite tired, so Mommy only stayed about 40 minutes. Clara enjoyed trying to walk down the slide and Emma loved climbing on anything she could. Mommy thought it was funny that when she sneezed while driving, Emma said "bless you."

Dinner was not great and to be honest, neither was lunch. Mommy has tried everything and Clara and Emma just aren't interested.

Last Day of U-2

This morning, Clara and Emma attended their last U-2 program at Temple Beth Shalom. It has been so much fun to go to school on Monday mornings and the Gornstein girls are sad it is over.
Clara and Emma have certainly grown since the program began in October.
Clara and Emma fell asleep in the car on the way home and took a long nap. They aren't feeling 100%, so Mommy just hung out at home and Elmo and friends kept the ladies entertained.

Again, Clara and Emma didn't want lunch, but mommy got them to eat avocado and some yogurt shake. By dinnertime, they were both exhausted. Emma insisted on getting in the crib with Clara and Mommy couldn't resist taking pictures. They both actually laid down and were quiet, but Mommy did move Emma back to her own crib. Nighty night.

Hola!

Clara and Emma were excited to meet cousin Vanina, who visted from Argentina. She came to spend the weekend. She joined Clara and Emma at Great Play for a make up class on Saturday morning. Mommy learned that Emma knew the word "coffee" as Vanina was drinking hers, Emma kept pointing and saying "coffee, coffee." And, Clara and Emma took her to lunch at Dobbs Diner. Mommy took her out on Saturday night to the city too.

On Sunday, Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein came over to play while Mommy and Daddy went to see the Kubers. Clara woke up with pink eye and went right on the antibiotic. Both ladies seem to have runny noses and Emma has a terrible cough, that matches Daddy's.

Mommy and Daddy came home to find that Emma had a new word, "agua."
Emma and Clara loved the spinach pancakes and macaroni and cheese they had for dinner. Emma especially liked wearing hers like a barrette.
