Interestingly, Mommy had read an article written by a friend about talking to preschoolers about death earlier in the week http://rivertowns.patch.com/articles/will-i-have-feet-when-i-die-discussing-death-with-preschoolers.
However, Mommy didn't feel it was important to start that discussion at this age.
Mommy went with a different approach and told Clara and Emma that her friend was sad and she needed to go give her a hug. Clara asked "Mommy, why is your friend sad." Emma said "Mommy, maybe you can make funny faces (with a demonstration) and make her happy."
When Mommy came to get the kids at school, Clara ran out of her class and asked "Mommy, is your friend happy now?" Emma said "Mommy, did you give her hugs and is she smiling now?" It was so sweet of both of them.
Tonight, after several reditions of "Put the chicken in the pot, stir it up so its nice and hot, getting read for Shabbat, for Shabbat." by Emma and Clara- with Emma walking up to everyone and asking "What do you want to put in the pot for Shabbat?" they transitioned to musical chairs.
Emma: "Oh Mommy, you're out."
Mommy: "Oh, you are playing musical chairs. The music stopped."
Emma: "Dont worry Daddy, you'll win the next game"
Clara and Emma walking around in a circle around their little chairs from their table in the kitchen. Music stops. Giggles from Clara and Emma.
Daddy: "Can I play?"
Emma: "Daddy, it is a 3s game."
Oh, here is another article about TRPG!
