It has been a bit of a frustrating week here at the Gornstein house.
Poor Emma suffered in pain and went almost 6 days before a poop. With the amount of miralax and exlax she was given, it is no suprise she was laying on the floor at school or jumping up and down saying her tush hurt. The good news is that yesterday she pooped on the potty at school (a first for her there) and after thrashing about all afternoon, finally went late last nite and thankfully, slept the rest of the nite. It seems some more consultations are in Emma's future because the cause of her constipation is still not addressed.
Clara, walked in Mommy and Daddy's room this morning around 6 am(another first), climbed into bed and went to sleep with her feet in Mommy's face. She also hasn't been pooping- but spent most of today trying (she went at least 3 times with her physical therapist) and was quite cranky and had some significant tantrums, including the one before school about what to wear and after her bath about what pajamas to wear (that one lasted a full 45 minutes). She had a great line today while on the potty, "Mommy, I just want it to pop out of my tushie. Why won't it pop out?"
In school this week, Clara got to be line leader on Wednesday - and was so excited, she made sure to tell everyone she saw!
Plus, Mommy has basically given up trying to get the kids to nap in their beds. They are so tired and protest so much, that it takes so so long to get them to nap for not so long, that it makes it not worth it. But, Mommy has now just accepted that if she puts them in the car, with their blankies and now also their pink knitted blankets, they go right to sleep. Mommy can even park the car - and these are some naps- at least an hour if not more. So, likely this is the beginning of the end of the nap, but they still aren't ready and neither is Mommy.
Yet, there are some highlights.
Emma keeps asking about "the blood" in the garage aka "the flood." Today, she went through the garage, looked down and said "yay, the blood is all cleaned up."
Clara and Emma had a whole fashion conversation about shoes today. Mommy mentioned she was going to buy them boots.
Clara: I want blue boots. Blue is my favorite color. Okay Mommy? Blue boots.
Emma: Well, I want purple boots. I love purple.
Clara and Emma: Mommy, you aren't talking. Why aren't you talking?
Mommy: I'm driving the car.
Clara: Mommy! Mommy! I want blue boots!
In the bathroom tonite, Emma had to supervise Clara on the potty.
Emma: Clara, I'm going to sing you a song. "You're poopin on the potty..."
Clara: Emma, I don't want you to sing.
Emma: I'm just trying to help.
This was followed by Emma looking at Mommy and saying "Mommy, I love you. I'm going to give you a big hug."
It is no wonder Mommy has a huge headache. That said, Mommy had coffee with a friend that has 5 kids- including a set of triplets, and oh, they are all under 5! And somehow, she makes it. It is a good thing she keeps a blog too, because Mommy checked it out this week for some additional perspective! http://lyonsdentriplets.blogspot.com/
