It was a bittersweet day as Clara and Emma had their last day of their 2's nursery school year. Time really does fly by because it seems like yesterday when Mommy said goodbye to them on the first day of school. Reflecting back on the year, Clara and Emma have really grown into toddlers. It is incredible how much they can change from September to June. They can cut using scissors, are experts at using a cup to drink out of, are potty trained and so much more.
Clara and Emma made cards for their teachers and principal and gave them out. Mommy was very proud of them. Of course, they return in a week for mini-camp before real camp at the end of June at the JCC.
This afternoon, Clara and Emma enjoyed playing in the backyard and wanted to take a walk down the street to greet the bus that their neighbor Rachel comes home on. Later, they enjoyed chalk and bubbles with neighbor Kayla. Mommy is really grateful to live in such a great neighborhood!
Tonight, Clara was bouncing in the bath and slipped and is fine, but cried and started to climb out. Mommy grabbed her and was holding her, while Emma imitated falling, fake cried and then also climbed out and decided she didn't need to dry off, but instead, that she should just waltz into her room wet. Oy.
The ladies watched the end of Tarzan tonight and seem to like it- especially because Jane looked like a princess. They event tried talking like gorillas.
Just some things that Mommy has been meaning to share...
Clara and Emma like turning on and off lights. When they do it in their bathroom, usually when Mommy is on the potty, they say things like "I made you brown" when the light is turned off and "I made you yellow," when they turn the light on.
Clara is on a kick of saying "no thank you," and "I'm sorry." If she wakes up (usually due to Emma) in the middle of the night and wants to go pee, she sits down, and then says "no thank you," and goes right back to sleep.
Clara has also been putting her arm around Emma and guiding her- whether to leave the house or head a certain direction, she has been helping to get them both out of the house.
It seems that they both (mostly Emma, but Clara following) are absolutely terrified of Lazy Town. Mommy thinks they might have seen a preview for it, but if they think it is coming, they scream and yell.
For some reason, both are totally into the dreidel book which has a dreidel that spins. Funny.
And, Mommy has been playing a cd in the car that has the song Do Re Mi from Sound of Music. Emma commented it was from Mary Poppins (ie since Julie Andrews plays both parts- same voice)- the kid doesn't miss a thing. Emma knows all the words!
