A New Cousin for Clara and Emma

It was a fun morning at Great Play. In the past, Clara has clung to Mommy for the first ten minutes or so of Great Play. Not so on this day. She went right in with Emma and they both went up and down the mats (they are on an angle). They loved going up the stairs of the slide and sliding down. They also had a great time riding the alligator and on the swing.

Mommy gave Clara and Emma chocolate milk boxes for a snack. Mommy has found that putting regular straws in helps to limit the mess it might cause. Clara is able to down one in one breath and often wants another. She decided that she should just take Emma's from her. Mommy intervened and took the chocolate milk back and gave it to Emma. When Mommy went over to Clara to tell her that it wasn't nice, Clara looked down at the floor, knowing she did something wrong and started crying and crying, until Mommy could finally distract her with something else. Mommy learned that Emma knew how to say "I slipped," as she slid on some papers that were in the dining room. After some hugging and then "swimming" on the floor, it was time to leave the house.

It was off to a play date at Amanda's house with her son Jacob and friend Brooke and her kids, Jared and Avery. It was quite funny because all the kids ended up on Amanda's bed rolling around with the pillows having a great time. Clara also enjoyed the jam session on the guitar she found with Jared playing the piano.

Late yesterday afternoon, Mommy heard from Uncle Adam that Noah Greig Frome arrived healthy at 4 lbs 15 oz. The Gornstein gang can't wait to head to Texas to meet him!

When Daddy arrives home, Clara and Emma are excited to see him and wait for him at the gate to the front stairs. Clara always wants to wear Daddy's shirts and likes to walk around in them- conjuring up yet another ET memory for Mommy. Last night, Daddy got Emma a shirt too and they both walked around in them.

At bedtime, Clara wanted Daddy to read the Eric Carle "Head to Toe" book. Daddy was in the middle of reading "My Abuela" a Dora book. Clara got up and took the book from Daddy and turned it to the last page shaking her head, closed the book and put herself in Daddy's lap and handed him the book. At first, Mommy wasn't sure that Clara understood what she was doing, but it quickly became clear to both Mommy and Daddy that she knew exactly what she was doing.
