Nursery School Shabbat

This morning, Clara and Emma were the first customers at A Maze in Pottery in Briarcliff and enjoyed painting hearts. They loved picking the colors and painting their pieces.

On Friday afternoon, Clara and Emma got dressed up to go to their Nursery School Shabbat with Mommy. Clara and Emma both wanted to wear kipot (head coverings) and found a purple one and a pink one and enjoyed wearing them on their heads. The ladies did a nice job of listening to some stories and singing Shabbat songs. They enjoyed seeing their teacher Laurie and a handful of their classmates. It was a small gathering, but fun.

The highlight of dinner was the grape juice in little cups and Clara and Emma couldn't get enough of it. Even after Mommy got them ketchup, the kids weren't very interested in the food and just wanted to play with the tissue paper flowers. Mommy realized it was time to go before any meltdowns and headed out. Emma carried her flowers and commented "Mommy, it is raining on my flowers and helping them grow. When I go home, I'm going to plan them in the dirt and put water on them and watch them grow." When Mommy put her in the car, Emma tried to keep the flowers outside in the rain and screamed, "Mommy, the flowers need water to grow!"

In addition to being obsessed with the Dora the Explorer book, Clara has insisted on reading the "big book" featuring the alphabet and fruits and vegetables. She screams at night for the big book, which Mommy and Daddy understand as that she wants to sleep with it. They also have a love of "eating" things from the book- like cookies or ice cream- literally reaching toward the book, acting like they are picking it up and putting it in their mouths or taking the balloons out of the books, pretending to hold them and fly away. Such imaginations!
