Clara enjoyed speech this morning.
It was off to the dentist for their 2nd dental checkup. This time was much different than the first time! After a few rides down the slide at the office, Clara and Emma sat on little benches, picked out toothbrushes and showed Dr. Aimee how they brush their teeth. Then, Mommy (with instruction from the Dr. and her team) held Emma's head in her lap and brushed her teeth. Emma was doing so nicely and Dr. Aimee decided to clean Emma's teeth and put a little flouride on them. And, Emma went right to the chair, lay down, put fancy sunglasses on, practiced using the cleaning tool on the hippo stuffed toy with teeth, and yes, let them clean her teeth- with barely a complaint.
Clara waited patiently for her turn and also did a super job. But the favorite part was getting their first cinderella tatoo at the end and digging through the treasure chest for neckalaces and rings. They even got a balloon-and didn't want to leave!!
After the dentist, it was off to a TRPG event with Kids Unplugged- a hike a Halsey Pond in Irvington. Mommy wasn't sure she could do it with Clara and Emma even though it was designed for little ones, but they did a GREAT job. It was fun being outside! They each copied some older girls and picked up walking sticks. They loved jumping in the mud and getting dirty. They checked out the ducks in the pond and admired the tall trees. There is a great castle at the end of the trail where Emma asked if the pricesses were coming too. They climbed on the rocks with friends Jake and Tycho and had a great morning! They were so tired and went right to sleep without a peep- both of them- which hasn't happened in weeks!
Tonight, Clara, still on a bath strike, wanted to sit on the potty while Emma was in the bath. Clara not only peed, but for the first time, she made a poopie! She screamed because she wasn't sure what was going on and then Mommy made sure to make a big deal out of it. Together, Mommy and Clara flushed it down the potty. Emma wanted to try too, but while Mommy's back was turned, decided it was easier to take the bath water out and put it in the potty and show Mommy. Yes. Really. No kidding. Mommy explained that she knew what happened and that was not pee pee. Clara said to Emma "it comes out of tushie." Emma tried... We're on the road! Better invest in M and M's.
