Clara's favorite toys include baby dolls, coloring in the tub or on paper, pushing her lawn mover or stroller, the fisher price house, mega blox, the abecus. She also learned how to use her legs to push her ride on toy forward.
Emma's favorite toys include Elmo, hats, coloring in the tub or on paper, pop beads, anything with a buckle (highchair, strollers), shoes with ties so she can say "loop," the mini kitchen, the fisher price house,
This month has been marked by a little craziness with health issues. Clara has had a cold most of the month. It seems her ears are also filled with fluid, and that most likely is the reason she did poorly on the hearing test and isn't speaking so much. Clara started antibiotic, for the second time in her 19 months, yesterday. It seems that when there is lots of fluid, she loses speech but when it is low, she can hear better and pick up words. She is scheduled to have tubes put in later this month. Emma's big news of the month was that she had minor surgery on her eyes to solve her blocked tear duct issues.
"Once they start, they won't stop," Mommy was once told by Grandma Frome when it came to Clara and Emma talking. This month, Clara was approved for speech, but she does have some words, many of which appeared in the last few days. These include: Happy, Shoe, Nose, Eyes, Bear, Duck, Elmo, Baby.
Emma loves to talk. She is a sponge and repeats almost everything. Words include: Elmo, Hat, Happy, Clap, March, Jack ("Jackie, Jackie" she says when she wants to watch Jack's Big Music Show), , Mote (remote), Tissue, Nose, Eyes, Ears, Hair, Toes, Blankie, Fishie, Eat, Banana, Peach, Strawberry, Apple, Blueberry, Draw, Color. One of the biggest changes was that "Mama" became "Mommy," and "Dada" became "Daddy."
Eating has been a challenge. There have been dinners of only strawberries and cheese and days where both ladies only want graham crackers. Mommy has no idea if it is due to illness or to toddler pickiness.
Clara and Emma enjoyed the benefits of Mommy's new business, The Rivertown Play Group (www.therivertownplaygroup.com) and have been active participants in the events.
