In the afternoon, Clara and Emma enjoyed a fun Take Back the Afternoon with The Rivertown Play Group. Both ladies love the slide and climbing up the stair like piece of equipment. And, for some reason, they were both fascinated with the stairs by the fire door and kept climbing up them.
Jenn, the co-founder with Mommy of The Rivertown Play Group, ran circle time, but asked Mommy to teach "Wind Wind the Bobbin." So, Mommy started to do so and had everyone singing "wind, wind." When Mommy was ready to teach the rest- "pull, pull, clap, clap, clap," Emma chimed in with both the words and the hand motions. Who knows, maybe she is destined for a teaching position in the future with her early skills?
Mommy's favorite moment of Clara's was when she sat in the wood see saw type thing and said "Emma." Mommy said "do you want Emma to come and sit on the other side?" Clara shook her head yes. Mommy got Emma and Clara had a huge smile.
The ladies took a very short nap, which meant a tired and cranky late afternoon.
Today, Clara and Emma went to Great Play. Emma was in a wonderful, cheery mood and Clara wasn't so interested in being away from Mommy. Emma did a nice performance of the warm up song and then found a shaker and walked around with it, even getting a crowd of kids wanting it. Clara seems to be a future gymnast- she loved putting one foot in front of the other on two different pieces of equipment that reminded Mommy of balance beams. Mommy also thinks Clara said "slide." She loves to go down the slide- except she likes to go head first or walk right off. Yes, really. Clara and Emma both were excited about the swings. Emma said "swing" and neither wanted to wait their turn. They both giggled with joy as they flew in the air back and forth. Mommy finally captured a photo of Emma's new favorite walking position- she walks with her hands behind her back.
Mommy put Clara and Emma down at 11. Emma fussed for a few minutes and then fell right to sleep. Mommy was pleased that they slept for almost a little over 1.5 hours. Mommy hears from friends that it is rough in the beginning and they'll learn to sleep longer etc., but it is tough for everyone! Mommy fed the ladies lunch which included strawberries, because Emma screamed for them. Mommy then took the ladies on a few errands, where they made friends with everyone they saw. On the way home, Clara started moving her hands back and forth, so Mommy sang "Row, Row," and Clara nodded that this is what she wanted. Emma joined in with hand motions too. Mommy stopped and Clara said "more" and did the sign for more. Mommy had seen her do that this morning at gym when she wanted to go back on the swings too. And, of course, the song "When you're happy and you know it" came on, they both clapped.
