Is Santa Coming To Our House?

It was a rough night in the Gornstein house as Clara woke up several times, as did her sister. A very tired Mommy and Daddy gave in at 645 and let them climb into bed.

Mommy took Emma out to the bakery (long line) but Emma enjoyed seeing all the different cookies and cakes, to her haircut and to Chef Central (a first for Mommy). It was fun to spend time just with Emma and also to only schlep one kid. Because of Clara's surgery, Mommy was home with Clara for a week and had some quality time and it was nice to do so with Emma as well.

Late this afternoon, since plans changed when Clara got her ear infections, Mommy and Daddy put Clara and Emma in the car and took them to see the lights. Clara said "Look, rainbow lights. Blue lights are my favorite." Emma commented "Oh My God. These are beautiful. Thank you Mommy. Thank you Daddy. I love seeing the lights." Emma couldn't stop the"Oh My God," and Mommy and Daddy had to continue to correct her to "Oh My Gosh."

And, of course there was Chinese food that the gang picked up. Emma liked the egg drop soup with mashed potato in it and loved the fortune cookies. Mommy asked her what they said- which she shared "It says I'm beautiful."

The Ardsley Fire Department driving the truck around with Santa was seen down on the street below the house and Emma got so excited to see Santa. She waited at the window in Mommy and Daddy's room, but by 7:30, there was no Santa. Somehow, Mommy convinced Emma and Clara to go to bed. Emma said to Mommy, "Maybe Santa didn't come because we're Jewish." Very cute.

Teaching Clara and Emma about their religion and how different people do different things is challenging. One step at a time.

And to all... a good night.
