Today was Clara's third appearance at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital for a procedure to get her tubes out and a tonsillectomy.
Yesterday, during a visit to the ENT yesterday afternoon to drain her ears (now both infected) it was quickly decided that something wasn't right and she needed to have emergency surgery to get the tubes out, irrigate the area and take out her tonsils (sort of a preventative measure). Mommy went into action making sure Daddy could come and get coverage for Emma.
Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein came last night and both ladies were excited to see them this morning.
The gang got to the hospital at 8 and after a confusing hour, ended up in the ER because that is how they admit emergency surgeries. Clara was finally taken in around 1230. The sugery was successful and we're glad we did it right away because the doctor said when she got in, everything was blocked and the tubes were actually acting as a foreign body and causing some of the problems. She was in a bit of pain when she woke up, but after a little morhphine and some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, started feeling better (see the pic below with her smile). She got home around 5 and even ate some noodles and applesauce- and of course, chocolate ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, of course.
Emma was a good girl and showed Grandma Gornstein her school and got to go to lunch with her at the Dobbs Diner and have noodles. The windows were being replaced, so Emma couldn't nap in her room and by the time 4:30 hit, she was exhausted, but made it until 6:15 when both ladies went to bed.
Mommy and Daddy couldn't be more proud of Clara. She had a smile on her face for most of the day and was such a sweetie.
