I Want To Be Me

Clara had a good nite and only woke up around 5 ish. She seems to tolerate the pain well, but Mommy and Daddy are still giving her the tyelenol with codeine at least through the weekend. Clara enjoyed making shrinky dinks with Mommy and loved putting them on bracelets and shaking them around. She was really funny when the new front loading washer and dryer arrived- she stood at the top of the stairs, looking down at the delivery guys with Mommy- and copied Mommy's stance- one foot on the step, one not. And then looked up at Mommy and smiled.

Emma was excited to go to school in Lara and Hayden's car today and had a great time at lunch at her friend Ashley's house. It has been a challenging week making sure Emma is occupied and happy, but friends have been very helpful! And, Emma has been out until about 2 pm and is so tired when she gets home, she takes a nap easily (okay, both have been in the car, but still).

When Emma came home, Clara said "Emma, come see, we got a new washer." Then, Clara picked up her broom and sweeper and said to Mommy "I'm cleaning your floor like my amigos."

Mommy took the ladies to Haggen Dazz for ice cream- they deserved it. Emma cried most of the time and even though she wanted gummies, she took one bite and begged Mommy to take all of them out.

On the way home, Mommy had to confront the question that was destined to happen this year. All of Clara and Emma's shows have been featuring Christmas episodes and because it is one of those weeks, they've seen plenty. At the ice cream store, Emma screamed with joy "what a pretty Christmas tree." And then, at CVS, picked up reindeer ears and put them on and begged Mommy to get them and the Santa item she picked. Mommy of course did not. Clara and Emma wanted to know where their rainbow lights were on the way home (Christmas lights lining bushes that they see every night). Mommy explained it wasn't dark enough yet. Mommy continued to say that they were nice Jewish girls that got to look at pretty lights and got to light their menorah for 8 days. Clara's response was priceless:"I don't want to be Jewish, I want to be me." How does one really have this conversation with a 3 year old?

You know Clara is feeling a little better because she is talking more, but she also put on a green costume, grabbed a few wands, put on yellow dress up shoes and stood in front of the mirror (the lower oven) singing, "I am Tinkerbell, la la la la"

Recently, Clara and Emma saw the Bernstain Bears on tv and Clara said "oh, the Gornstein Bears, just like us." Everytime she sees them, she says the same thing- and so does Emma-so cute.
