Eyes and Little Ballerinas

Today, Clara and Emma were woken up by Mommy and Daddy at 6AM. Mommy gave each girl the eyedrops to dilate their eyes. It was not fun for anyone. Mommy knew the drops went in Clara's eyes because she seemed disoriented and was crying. Emma seemed to get at least a drop in, but didn't seem to uncomfortable. Mommy and Daddy got the ladies dressed and headed to the eye doctor's office in Scarsdale. Clara and Emma both got their eyes examined. Then, it was time for the procedure to fix Emma's blocked tear duct. Mommy and Daddy are glad they did it now because it could be done in the office, instead of the hospital with anesthesia. Emma got put in a papoose and strapped down- she didn't like it at all. She screamed for the whole procedure, which didn't last very long, but made everyone sad. The good news is that the doctor fixed the tear duct and Emma was fine a few minutes later. He did say that his guess is that Emma will need glasses for near sightedness in the future. We shall see... Mommy and Daddy (and Clara and Emma) are all glad that it is over!

Daddy drove all the ladies to the CVS in Ardsley to fill Emma's prescription. Mommy got Clara and Emma a bagel during the wait. Clara and Emma were exhausted and went to sleep at about 8:45. After they woke up, Mommy gave them lunch and they played in the house. Emma continued to say "don't touch" and "Emma" if she wanted something. Clara enjoyed sitting on the bean bag chair and reading a book, even using her finger to point out words. Both ladies played nicely with their megablocks too. However, when Mommy left the room to get something, she came back to find that Emma had reached through the gate and grabbed Mommy's wallet and that Clara was sorting through the credit cards. Mommy knows better than to leave things near the gate where Emma can reach them and pull them through, so this one was Mommy's fault. Mommy knew they'd be ready for their second nap earlier, at around 1. When the woke up, Mommy took them for a walk to meet Marci and Matthew. It was nice to be outside and see friends. Emma didn't like being in the stroller today, so Mommy took them home. And, as an extra suprise, Heather called and came over with Allie! Clara and Emma both got to try on Allie's new ballet skirt which plays music. It was adorable and Mommy thinks that Clara looks like ET -except cuter - when she wears all the dress up clothes!
