First, the sleep update..Monday was an okay night. Emma woke up at 3 am and Mommy went in and sat with her and explained if she went back to sleep she'd get a star and that she had Mommy's blanket with her. She soon said "okay," and went right back to sleep.
Last night, she screamed a few times in her sleep, but went right back to bed without Mommy and Daddy going in. Unfortunately, both ladies have small runny noses - clear, not even much to speak of, but both seem mildly congested, so who knows what tonight will bring.
After speech this morning, which featured a reading of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom with Clara sitting at the table enjoying the book and remembering the lines (they did a unit in school with the book in the spring), Mommy took the ladies to the Alcott School in Dobbs for Clara's OT evaluation for CPSE. Yes, the CPSE meeting with the school district was last week, but it was decided to evaluate Clara in these areas. The evaluation went well, and other than some minor weakness in her arms, the evaluator spoke highly of Clara's meeting. Emma sat with Mommy and wasn't thrilled that Clara was doing something without her.
It rained most of the day and Clara and Emma were thrilled to wear their boots (they noticed it was raining and asked) and couldn't wait to jump in the puddles! Emma put her arm gently around Clara's back to encourage her to walk back through the puddles again. A trip to Stew's to look at birthday cakes ended quicly because they were scared they would see the cow in the dairy section was followed by a trip to Trader Joe's to find some non dairy products (not so easy). And, apparently Trader Joe's is saving the environment and not doing balloons- good for the environment, bad for parents that take a trip to Trader Joe's with the balloon promise at the end!
This afternoon, the ladies headed over to the Farmer's Market in Irvington to dance and enjoy some music with friends, and of course, all the offerings of the market. The rain cleared up just in time for the market, but lots of people stayed away. Clara and Emma were excited to see their friend Sonya and helped her push Remy - Mommy is convinced that they didn't know it was a real baby - even though they did their standard peek a boo and tickle feet routine. The musician was great and tailored his opening songs to his tot audience- including a great rendition of Rainbow Connection and a great song about making silly faces, which Clara and Emma loved! They also liked wandering around looking for puddles. Mommy doesn't mind because it is good, but no so clean, fun!
