On Saturday morning, Clara and Emma enjoyed attending friend Justin's 3rd birthday. The loved playing outside with the bubbles- even though it was incredibly hot and humid. And, they got ot make picture frames too. A special treat was that one of their nursery school teachers, Laurie, came to the party to see everyone. It doesn't really get any more cool than that. And, Clara and Emma are quite aware that their birthday is soon and are very very excited.
While Mommy is somewhat of an organized person, Mommy needs help when it comes to the house. And, it is hard for Mommy to concentrate and find big chunks of time with Clara and Emma running around. So, this weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein came to help and were home when Clara and Emma arrived back from the party. During the "big clean," Mommy found things that she had saved since college-and while it was a nice alk down memory lane, it was time for the mix tapes, letters and random items to move on to another place.
The kids took a great nap and afterwards, enjoyed playing in the pool out in the back and swinging, before coming inside to relax. Daddy made dinner on the bbq and made some chicken and lamb. Clara was fascinated with the lamb and more specifically, the bone. "Mommy, where is the bone? Do you eat the bone? Can I see the bone? Why bone?"
Mommy and Daddy woke up and were thrilled not to have been woken up during the middle of the night by Emma. At breakfast, Emma shared a story that she made up- she opened her hands like a book and said "This is Mickey Mouse and he is hungry. He is going to eat breakfast now. The end." Mommy gets a huge kick out of listening to Emma because she speaks like she is fifteen- with introductions to sentences with the word "well" as in "Well, I was just going to..." and every other word as "like" sprinkled with "um," as in "Like I was just like going to um do this puzzle." Clara is also funny these days with her scrunched up smiley face and saying "I don't want to tell you."
While Mommy and Grandma Gornstein continued organizing, Clara and Emma enjoyed playing with Daddy and Grandpa. Emma and Clara found the ducks from Israel that Mommy had saved from their school things that Mommy organized. Emma said "Oh, this is from school. We ate food and ice cream on our trip. We also went fishing." All true- and that by the was in April for Yom Ha'atzmaut- and she remembered.
This morning, Emma put something on Clara's plate. Clara yelled "I don't like vegetables. Emma like vegetables. Emma put vegetables on my plate. Take off."
Before their nap, Clara wore her purple dress and was dancing around.
Emma: (while wearing the King's crown upside down on her head) "Clara, I'll be the prince. You be Cinderella. Let's dance like at the ball."
Clara:: "Okay."
Emma and Clara: "La, di, la, la."
After almost 2 full days of organizing, all of the leftover boxes are finally unpacked and the office is organized-there is more to do, but it is a great feeling. Mommy thanks Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein and Daddy for all of their help!!
The torrential rains came quickly and cooled off the air a bit. Clara and Emma took a nice nap and since they hadn't been out all day, Mommy and Daddy took them to Pumpernickel for dinner. They behaved nicely and gobbled up both the pasta with butter and pasta with red sauce. They got ice cream sandwiches for dessert (Mommy and Daddy allow Emma one dairy type product a day). On the way home, they were playing with their mini screwdriver and mini hammer they got as a party favor yesterday. Emma annouced "I'm going to get screwed." Mommy and Daddy laughed. They Clara said "I'm getting hammered," followed by Emma's "I'm getting screwed." Yep, that's a golden one for the books!
