Clara and Emma were so excited to wake up and see if Grandma and Grandpa Frome were up yet. They arrived last night, right in time to read Clara and Emma books before bed.
After Clara's speech, which went well (good news, because her speech seems to be less clear recently, mostly due to suspected allergies/stuffiness, but still of concern). The gals played dress up and enjoyed new jewelry and showing it all off to Grandma and Grandpa.
Even though it was raining, Mommy loaded the gang up in the car, decked out in their new rain boots featuring butterflies (Emma) and ladybugs (Clara) to go to a TRPG/Kids Unplugged hike at East Irvington Nature Preserve. Mommy would have normally bought the same shoes, but this is what they had at the Stride Rite outlet and they took Mommy's gift card (so, really, the boots are from Grandma and Grandpa Gornstein- thanks!). The gals also wore their new light rain jackets. On the way there, they kept asking if there were puddles to jump in. Grandpa Frome joined the Gornstein girls while Grandma Frome explored Irvington.
The hike was awesome! It didn't rain very much at all and in fact, by the end, was sunny, hot and humid. Amazing how the temps change over a few hours. Now, Mommy never really did think she would do these things, but Clara and Emma love it and Mommy enjoys watching them love being in nature. Both Clara and Emma made sure to find every single puddle and jump through them. They didn't care that they were wet and muddy. They loved seeing the frog in the lake and climbing on rocks and trees. By the end, Clara was making mud pies in the puddles and placing leaves, rocks etc in like an art project.
Muddy and tired, Mommy took the ladies home to nap while Grandma and Grandpa Frome went to Red Hat and to see Eileen Fisher's store (a highlight for Grandma!).
This afternoon, it was off to the Concord Road park to ride bikes on a flat surface. Clara did a great job (even with the fairy wings on her back) and rode the bike by herself for a bit. Emma kept trying and is doing better each time.
