Yom Kippur

Clara and Emma were happy to wake up Auntie Alyssa on Wednesday morning (she arrived on Tuesday night). Auntie Alyssa came to Great Play with Clara and Emma and Mommy for a make up class. It was fun! Mommy appreciated having an extra set of hands too. After class, Clara and Emma fell asleep in the car and kept sleeping when Mommy transferred them to their cribs. After they woke up, Mommy took everyone to Star Bagels for lunch and to the grocery store. In the afternoon, Mommy cooked up lots of yummy food for the break fast. Daddy came home early to play, which was very nice, so Mommy and Auntie Alyssa could go to Kol Nidre. Emma showed Daddy how she can take a few steps... it is very exciting.

Today, Clara and Emma enjoyed eating while everyone else fasted. Clara's nose keeps running because of the teething and she is clearly uncomfortable- go figure, she has 8 teeth coming in! Daddy took the ladies on a nice walk while Mommy cleaned up the house and got things ready for the afternoon. After a nap, Clara and Emma ate again and visited the park with Daddy and Auntie Alyssa. In the early afternoon, after their second nap, Mommy took Clara and Emma to the children's service at the temple. It was lovely. Mommy's favorite part was when they sang on of the songs and instructed the kids to sing along the chorus "ay, yay, yay,"- Clara and Emma thought it was "oy vey" and proceeded to put their hands on their heads the whole song. Clara loved services so much she screamed with joy quite a bit. Mommy thought about taking her out, but it was with excitement- and as one other parent told Mommy, she was just trying to sing along. Clara and Emma loved the guitar and enjoyed the shofar blowing at the end. Mommy also bumped into one of her friends from high school, Jamie Brenner and his wife Judith and their two kids. Mommy, Clara and Emma met Judith on Monday at the 1's class but didn't know the connection. Mommy invited them over to the break fast and was glad they came.

Break fast was lots of fun. Mommy said the blessings and everyone ate! The kids enjoyed the "pit" and seemed to all enjoy the company. Mommy made too much food, but it was tasty. The menu included baked french toast, blintz souffle, noodle kugel, quiche, bagels and lox, tuna, fruit salad and great desserts brought by friends! Clara and Emma thought the french toast souffle was the best and Clara even tried to eat a whole piece all by herself. She was able to eat the bagel well today too - using her new teeth. It was nice to celebrate the new year with new friends.
