Clara and Emma Are 14 Months Today!

Clara and Emma are enjoying toddlerhood as they turn 14 months and keeping Mommy and Daddy quite busy! As Mommy explains it, one walks and one talks, although Mommy is expecting that to change this month.

Clara is a walker- she just gets up and goes. She likes to turn in circles, hold her toys or cup while she walks (and sometimes walks with things in her mouth which Mommy doesn't like). She likes playing with megablocks and puzzles and of course, reading books. She enjoys the Little People Bus and pushing it around. She loves going down the slide and gym class and climbing on everything. She likes going up the stairs at the house and is working on learning how to go down.

Emma is a talker. Her words (at least what Mommy and Daddy think they hear) include the following: "Juice," "Duck," "Up", "Down," "Oops," "Fish," "No," "More," "Baby," "Turtle," and "This." She loves ducks- she sees ducks in a book, on Sesame Street or in a store and she starts screaming "duck, duck, duck." She has lots of ducks to keep her company. She loves to gives hugs and kisses to her stuffed toys, but especially her baby doll and her turtle. She enjoys putting her head on the turtle and taking a rest- for few seconds, but it is cute. She loves going down the slide at gym class. She also likes to go up the stairs at the house (yes, sometimes, with Mommy and Daddy's supervision, there is a race to the top). Emma can't get enough of "Brown Bear."

Clara and Emma had some new foods this month including honey - on their apples- for Rosh Hashanah. They also enjoyed Grandma Gornstein's homemade gefilte fish and brisket. They also enjoyed steamed vegetable dumplings.

In other news, Mommy is pleased to report that the Gornstein household is a bottle free household! Mommy got rid of the bottles, which only appeared at the bedtime feeding a few weeks ago. Clara and Emma didn't seem to notice. Milk began to appear in their straw cups at dinner and they finished them while putting on their pjs (except on a crazy night, when they would finish them in their room). Emma still doesn't love milk, but does take a little bit out of the cup on most mornings and evenings.

Mommy has worked on shifting their schedule a bit so that the ladies can attend gym class and the upcoming 1's class at the temple which starts next week. Clara and Emma have generally woken up aroun 6:45-7 and enjoy their breakfast, followed by some play. Mommy has started taking them to the gym and putting them in babysitting or taking them to their weekly gym class on Tuesday mornings. They take morning nap from 10:15 ish- 11:30 or so and then eat lunch. After some play, Mommy takes the ladies out again until about 1:30-2, when they take another nap. When they wake up, they have a snack and then do something fun in the afternoon, before having dinner at 5, with a bath (almost every other day), and bed.

The teeth report: Well, Clara has 12 teeth and it looks like four more on the way in. She hasn't really taken a break from teething and they just keep coming. Emma has 6 teeth and it looks like a few on the way.

This past month, Clara got sick for the first time with Roseola. Interestingly, Emma didn't get it. It featured a high fever for about 4 days followed by a rash. She was generally fine during the ordeal, but Mommy and Daddy were quite worried. Over the past week, both Clara and Emma have had runny noses and for the first time, Clara's featured a little green mucous. However, both of them seem okay and Mommy and Daddy really think it is from the teething.
