Clara and Emma are 11 Months!

Clara and Emma are 11 months today.

Their schedule this month has started with waking up at about 6:30-45 am. After a diaper change and breakfast of cheerios, fruit and bottle, the ladies play for a little. Recently, Mommy has been taking Clara and Emma on a long walk on the Croton Aqueduct Path or through town. They go back down for a nap at 9 and sleep for about 1 hour, sometimes 1 hour and 15 mintues. They get an outfit for the day and play some more. At 11, they enjoy lunch- this month's big feature has been cheese quesadilla or grilled cheese. It is usually accompanied by applesauce, avocado, peaches, mango etc. Then, they get their bottle. Somedays they stay up until about 12:45-1 and other days, it is 12:15. Either way, they generally go down for about 1 hour. Mommy prefers when they go down again at 1 and sleep until 2. In the afternoon, they play, go to the park and visit the swings, go to the new playgroup, swim, or run errands with Mommy. At 3, they get a snack- this month's addition was fig newtons and blueberries. They also like the freeze dried bit size apples or bananas/strawberries from Gerber. Another new snack has been rice cakes. They also love drinkng their juice-water (mostly water with a little apple or pear juice). At 5, they enjoy dinner, usually chicken or potato crusted fish sticks (thank you, dr, praegers) and spinach pancakes (again, thank you dr praegers). They also seem to enjoy steamed broccoli or carrots and the all-time fav, grilled sweet potato. Since they no longer take a third nap, they are usually exhausted by 5. They get through dinner and their bath, and have an evening bottle between 5:30-45 and go straight to sleep.

The biggest issue with food has been Emma's hives around her mouth, which have happened twice this month- once reacting to cream cheese and the other possibly to a muffin. Since both have milk, Mommy has called the allergist and Emma is going to get tested at the end of the month again to see if they can determine what might be causing her to react. Mommy hopes to have this resolved soon because Clara and Emma will be weaned off formula in a month! Emma is also still challenged by her reflux, which still has not gone away. It is extra confusing that not only are the girls on different formulas, Clara is on a faster nipple than Emma!

Clara took her first step this past month. She is very tentative, but she can do it. She loves to cruise- especially if there is a remote, phone or newspaper on the couch. She enjoys pulling up to standing as much as possible. She loves peek a boo and knows to pull the blanket over her head and take it off- when she does it, she has a huge smile. She loves books- she often picks them up and looks at them. Her favorites are Baby's Photo Album, Hello Bee, Hello Me (has lots of mirrors), Peek a boo, Red Hat, Greet Hat. Clara loves to play the drum and use the shakers. Clara loves finger food and sometimes refuses the spoon. When she does eat from the spoon, she takes it and plays with it. She will, with Mommy's help, put it in the food and then her mouth. She does enjoy painting the tray and herself with the food, much more than her sister. Clara is showing some frustration when Emma takes a toy away and Mommy keeps explaining to them that they need to share.

Emma loves to giggle. She has started to "relax" by laying down and stopping for a few minutes. Mommy and Daddy still think it is hysterical. She likes taking her hand against her mouth and making sounds and going "brrr" with a finger against her lip. She LOVES finger food- but takes way too much at a time. She enjoys going in the exersaucer to go bouncy- and just jumps up and down. She likes climbing on the bean bag chairs and enjoys playing with anything that anyone else has- whether it is Clara or another kid. Emma enjoys her morning walks but has started ot sit forward in the stroller checking everything and everyone out. Emma's favorite books are the same as Clara's- but she absolutely loves Red Hat, Green Hat and giggles everytime someone says the word oops. Emma also seems to love pouncing- on Mommy or Daddy, but also on Clara. The only issue is Clara thinks it is funny, but Mommy and Daddy are afraid Emma could hurt her because she keeps sticking her little fingers in Clara's face! Emma also loves to drum and use shakers.

Clara and Emma both love to swing. They also both love to swim and get very excited when they see the pool and enjoy hanging out in their floats. Clara and Emma end the month with four top teeth and two bottom teeth.

The second month in Dobbs Ferry and the 'burbs has been good. It has been very nice to be included in a playgroup with some people from Musical Munchkins. Clara and Emma are a bit older, but fit in nicely. This month, Clara and Emma also got to know and love their new nanny, Cheri. She is with them 3 days a week. C
