On Wednesday morning, Mommy got everyone ready and packed up to head to the airport. Clara and Emma were excited to shed their winter coats and leave them in the car and knew they had to sit in the stroller until Mommy gave them permission to get out. After a quick check-in, Mommy headed over to security. It was as expected- off with the shoes, the sweatshirts, out of the stroller, put the stroller through security, get the kids to walk through etc and then back on with the shoes, back in the stroller... well, you know. It went smoothly and there were no tears or screaming!
Mommy made sure to find the gate and then let the kids walk around. There was some music playing for the fashion show that was being set up and Clara and Emma loved dancing to it. Mommy made sure to buy some lunch for the plane and went over to the gate to board only to find out the gate had been changed- to the other side of the airport. With not too much time, Mommy started running while pushing the stroller and quickly realized the need for the "golf cart" transportation and flagged one down. Clara and Emma waived to people as the cart got the gang to the destination on time. Phew.
Clara and Emma got settled in their seats and were excited to put their headphones on and watch the tv (which of course, one has to pay for if they want more than the first 20 minutes). The flight was good- only a few outbursts over which dvd to watch and what item to color. They enjoyed ordering apple juice from the flight attendant and visiting the potty (no accidents!). They waited patiently to get off the plane and were helpful in spotting the luggage. They also liked the bumpy bus ride to the car rental area. But... somehow between the plane and the car rental area, Mommy lost her license, so couldn't rent a car. Uncle Adam saved the day and came to get Clara, Emma and Mommy. Thank goodness the gals slept on the way to Uncle Adam's a bit. They were so excited to see their cousins and to play outside and got on the ride on toys, bikes and scooters right away. Can't beat warm weather at 5 pm.
A long day of travel, but fun to be here in Houston... where it feels like summer!
