The Recital

Today's morning routine:

1. Dress up in dress up clothes
2. Perform "Sleeping Beauty"- Emma pretends to sleep and Clara gives her a kiss to wake her up
3. Emma sings someday my prince will come. Mommy and Daddy laugh and smile.

On another note, they both keep acting out the princess stuff with the "mean sister" and "witch" storylines. They make "angry faces" and demand that one be - or Mommy-Cindy (Cinderella) and do chores. Oh my.
All of this followed with the kids pushing doll strollers and carrying dolls around the house
Clara: Where we going?
Emma: Taking the babies on a walk. They need to get outside today.

Clara and Emma were so excited to go back to princess camp. Today, at the end, Mommy got to go watch their little recital. The Gornstein ladies were the youngest there, but did an amazing job of participating in the songs - both stood and sang and followed all the hand motions with huge smiles. Clara had blue eye shadow all over her face and bright red polish that she was so proud of! Emma was thrilled to have several princess tatoos.

They each got a certificate and a tiara! Today's project was princess wands - covered in gold glitter! Super cute!

Yet another day where getting them down for a nap became a fight. Sure, they are tired, but Mommy questions the amount of energy it takes to get them to actually nap for an hour. Is 30-45 minutes of time worth the 1 hr or so nap these days? Mommy gave up and let them relax. Daddy came home, tried to get them down and no go. Mommy put them in the car and of course, within a minute, they were both out.

Sure, exhausted, but the car nap took the edge off. They are just hot messes and can't keep it together- especially Clara. Hurricane Earl didn't touch Westchester- not a drop of rain- but it sure was humid! Clara and Emma wanted to go play with their bat, ball and mit, and Daddy's homemade tee- an old lampstand. Emma knew to go put the ball on it and Clara hit it. Apparently, the did this at some point last week, because Emma knew to cheer and say "home run." Clara loves, loves, loves her bat. She is completely obessesed with the bat and ball and talk about it often. Just the fact that they got out and did some sport activity and enjoyed it balanced out the princess events of the morning.

Clara and Emma love Mommy's made up song to the tune of "Mama's Gonna Buy You a Mockingbird." Mommy made up words earlier this week and they insist on being sung it- lemon pie seems to be the favorite thing Mommy will buy them.

There has also been an issue of sharing Mommy the past few nites. Mommy started with Clara and then went to Emma. Emma clung to Mommy and said "don't leave me to go to Clara, I'm going to cry. I need you. Mommy I'm crying because you are leaving. " All the while, Clara is screaming, "Emma, we share Mommy. Mommy, come here now. Mommy, Mommy, my turn."
