Clara and Emma at 10 Months

Clara and Emma are 10 months today! It has been quite a busy month, highlighted by a move to the suburbs and their first trip on a plane to Florida. The girls also both stood on their own- just for a few seconds before falling.

Both girls love their new space. They have a play area and their own room. They prefer the baby jogger (so does Mommy) to the maclaren in the neighborhood.

Clara enjoys standing up anytime she can and cruising. Her favorite activity is to be turned upside down like a bat- but if you do it too soon after a meal, be careful (Mommy learned the hard way). She also likes being a clock and swinging side to side, "tick tock, tick tock." She went in the pool and enjoyed the baby float tremendously and did sit on the sand at the beach. Clara can play by herself in the "pit" for a long time and doesn't seem to mind. She loves the activity table, the musical munchkin box, crawling under things (Mommy and Daddy too), her new remote toy from Grandpa (although she is smart enough to know that it isnt the real one and prefers Daddy's remote), the playskool balls, playing ball, swinging and the fisher price little blocks. When she moved, Clara started eating in a highchair and enjoys picking up her food herself and sometimes refuses to be fed with a spoon. She loves to talk and if she makes a noise and you repeat it, she repeats it back. She loves to see how loud she can "talk," too. She also says lots of "ma, ma and da, da and ba, ba." Clara absolutely loves to swing - and the higher she goes, the happier she is.

Emma also loves standing up and cruising around the play area "jail." Emma spent most of the month waking up early and crying. She cries when she wakes from her naps as well. Mommy thinks it may be that she is scared, but she has done this since she arrived in this world. Emma loved the baby float in the pool and walking around visiting big kids. She loved the beach and playing with the sand, and of course, putting it in her mouth. She always makes friends- at the airport, on the plane, in the stores and at the park, Emma smiles at everyone and makes sure that they know she is there. Emma loves to eat, even though her reflux was pretty bad in Florida. She loves finger food but eats too much at the same time and doesn't understand the concept of eating slowly or one at a time. She is talking a ton as well. Emma enjoys swinging, but it takes her a few seconds to adjust. She still seems frightened by new experiences - for example, she came with Mommy and Daddy to Target and got scared when she was put in the cart. After touching her arm and reassuring her, she was fine and enjoyed looking around at all of the things and people.

Their schedule this month began at 6:45 or so (although at the beginning of the month it was earlier for Emma). At 7, the girls sit in their highchairs for bottles and cheerios and fruit. After playtime, they go upstairs for a nap from 8:45- 10:30 or so, especially towards the end of the month. Emma often wakes up half way through her nap, but she cries a bit and Mommy goes in and picks her up, helps her find her taggie blanket and turns on the music and back to sleep she goes. At 11, they enjoy lunch- grilled cheese or yogurt and a fruit, followed by a bottle. After their bottle, Mommy takes them for a walk or a drive or class, but tries to be home by 1, for their next nap, which is usually an hour. At 3, they have a bottle and sometimes some puffs or cheerios. At 5, they enjoy dinner - chicken with pasta, spinach panckake (which they think is the greatest thins) or sweet potato, followed by a bath and bedtime bottle at around 5:45. Yep, that early.

The girls are teething, which Mommy and Daddy think is going to happen until they get all of their teeth. This month ends with Clara and Emma both having 3 upper front teeth and two lower front teeth.
