Nursery School Update

This Week in the 3's March 7-11

The 3's class has been concentrating on Purim through art, music, and stories. The children have heard the age appropriate version of the Purim story. We have also read several books including A Costume for Noah and Sammy Spider's First Purim.

The art projects have included Purim-themed hand puppets and masks. Lauren worked with the children helping them select their favorite Purim character, and decorated both projects using a variety of materials. We are currently working on groggers by painting, coloring with markers and using some of the stickers Nancy brought from Israel.

Gina continued working on the senses through finger painting by adding solid objects to paint. Most of the children loved this project. At snack each day the children have been using charts to help them describe and compare each snack by color, texture, size and smell.
This week in music, Marcy had the children (and teachers) march around the room singing Purim songs while playing the maracas. Next week we will be sure to bring our class made groggers for this purpose.

For World Read Aloud Day we had several guest readers including the Rabbi and Jackie. The 3's and 4's teachers even switched classes for the occasion.
