Language Confusion

Clara and Emma decked themselves out in their dresses with some tie-dye and leg warmers. Clara was so proud to show her rainbow leg warmers off and everytime someone called them tights, she corrected them. She also insisted on mismatched socks (one pink, one purple) and mismatched hair clips (one blue, one pink and one small and one big) that she had to put in herself.

After school, Clara and Emma took a trial Spanish class for Language Starts Fun Immersion. It is a class taught in Spanish only. The teacher was amazing and had incredible energy. The kids warmed up right away- which makes sense- since they hear Spanish from their grandparents and cousins. They do songs, snack, a project and movement in 85 minutes. Mommy observed the class and two moments stuck out.

The first is when the kids were doing an art project that went along with the lesson about pizza. They were being shown the pizza slice, a brown triangle that they were going to decorate with toppings. Emma shouts out, "we're making hamentachen." Hamentachen being the triangle shaped cookie one eats for the Jewish holiday of Purim, which is next week.

Second, the teacher was using a hand pointer. She took it out and said "mano." Emma said "oh, that is a yad." Yad is Hebrew for hand.

Good news- kids were wiped out and even requested a nap. So, the slept in the car on the way to their PT/OT/Speech appointments.

Tonight, Mommy played Mommy/baby with Clara and Emma. Emma was the Mommy and Mommy and Clara were the baby. Mommy pretended to cry and Emma was such so good.

Emma: Are you cold baby? Do you need a blankie?
Mommy: Still pretending to cry
Emma: Baby, what's wrong? Do you need water?
Mommy: Up
Emma: I can't pick you up, but I'll hold you
Mommy: Pretending to cry
Emma: Oh My Gosh. I don't know what you want. Can I talk to you (and sits down)? You have to tell me what you want.
Mommy: Pretending to cry
Emma: I love you baby. Does your belly hurt? I'll rub it. Does it feel better?

Yes. She was so cute and at times, Mommy couldn't help but laugh.
