Clara and Emma have really been into letters- spelling their names and even the letters on the Stop sign "Mommy, S T O P, Stop." Okay, they know that that red sign is a stop sign, but very neat. They have been playing all sorts of letter identification games on their computers. Nothing beats an early morning computer game in your gown!
This week there were two no nap days- not a common thing in the Gornstein household and certainly not something this gang is ready for as proved by today's behavior.
Mommy has been getting the kids down at around 12:45 - a little earlier than the 1 pm of the past. But, it has worked and for some time now, they've been napping in their beds. A huge improvement to the car naps of September! Sure, they nap about an hour, maybe a little more and wake up because Clara has to poop on the potty (can't argue with that) or Emma is actually pooping (yay!). But, they are exhausted and usually plop in front of the tv for another hour.
Today, Mommy gave in to their request to watch some more Little Bear. Bad idea. The two of them went into their beds and talked and talked. Clara couldn't keep her eyes open in the car and fell asleep, but Emma wanted to play and after a short time, woke her sister up.
The hour from 3-5 weren't so bad as they played and made brownies. But it went quickly downhill. Mommy had a feeling they'd start to unravel and tried to get dinner for them, but even at 5 pm it was too late. A little yogurt but then kicking and screaming tantrums and shouts of "I'm tired," from both. Mommy knew it was time to put them in their beds, even as they wailed. Rubbing their eyes and kicking, yelling "I don't need to go to sleep. I'm not tired." Sure. Mommy ended up rocking Clara to sleep.
Daddy arrived a little before 6 and said "It is quiet." Mommy said "they're asleep." So, there will be some nap days and some no nap days... at least on a no nap day they are asleep by 6!
