This week in the Three's Nov. 5, 2010
Once again a great week in the three year old class. We had music with Marcy twice this week, and each week the children have more fun as they start to anticipate the songs and movement as soon as they sit down with their name tags on.
We are very proud of our school bulletin board for the month of November - the fall collages really reflect each child's unique way of designing and arranging. Check it out when you have a chance.
The focus for the next few weeks are the upcoming holidays, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah both. Our story time has been a combination of reading aloud with Gina for the children and my sharing different books about Thanksgiving that I have taken out of the library to read to them. We have had discussions about what we are thankful for and without exception and to my great surprise all of the children focused on such things as family, a warm home, grandparents and that type of thing, as opposed to only toys and material items. We are hearing the good values you have already instilled in your children and are expanding upon those.
On Friday we joined the four year old class along with Jackie and Rabbi Kenter to have a communal Shabbat sing/story and to prepare lentil soup for the whole school to enjoy in their individual classroom Shabbat celebrations. (This week's Torah portion includes the story of Esau selling Jacob his birthright in exchange for a bowl of lentil soup.) So we sang "Put some lentils in the pot" instead of the usual "Put some chicken in the pot" for Shabbat and actually put all the ingredients in while we were singing! Those children who actually tried the soup loved it!
We celebrated Shabbat in the classroom with Kai's mommy.
Remember Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Wed. evening, and there is no school Thursday because of Veteran's Day.
Have a lovely weekend. Shabbat Shalom.
