Little Miss Independent Times Two

This past month was very busy with lots of parties, shows and outings, and of course Halloween. It was also a month where they finally had a 5 day school week and got into the swing of things at school. A huge theme of the month has been independence. Clara and Emma both insist on doing EVERYTHING themselves.

They want to get dressed without help and usually put their shoes on the wrong feet, they go to the bathroom themselves and wash their hands (okay, sure there is green soap everywhere after, but...) and they love putting on their coats or sweatshirts with the flip method (which sometimes also ends up upside down). Mommy had pulled out a pull up for Clara the other day for night and when Grandma went to change her, she was already wearing one. Grandma asked Clara when she put it on and she responded "when I went pee pee by myself. I got it and put it on since it is night."

They both say things like "go away Mommy, I don't need your help."

They love doing puzzles and playing board games, anything arts and crafts and their new game is playing school-like "kid circle time," where one plays the teacher and the other the student. They also are completely obessesed with what job they will or won't have at school. Mommy figured out that on the days they are upset that they didn't have a job, Mommy asks them if they want to be the "napkin helper" or the "book collector" etc at home- and that has been a hit. Dress up is still a big thing in the house and usually involves several costume changes.

They are very cute and both like to express their love for each other - "I love you Emma," or "I love you Clara." And, for Mommy and Daddy (and both sets of grandparents).

They are both getting into letters and take their computers with them and press different letter and talk about "checking their email." Clara is able to write several letters and tries writing her name but it ends up as different letters on the page. Emma likes to say "E M M A- Emma!"

Clara is also into matching- ie "this matches that," or "Grandma, you have stripes on your socks like me. We match!"
