A Hot July Weekend...Finally!

It was a warm and sunny weekend in Ardsley. Yesterday, the gals headed to Nanuet to check out a dining room set. After a little bit in the stroller, Clara and Emma enjoyed running around the store. In the end, the sale was made over the phone and the furniture will arrive this week. In the afternoon, the Gornsteins enjoyed Celebrate Greenburgh Day at the pool. You see, because the house is in unincorporated Ardsley, the gang can't use the pool. But yesterday, it was open to all. It was crowded, but Clara and Emma didn't care. They love the water. They loved walking in the pool which has a "water playground" in the middle. They also found toys like buckets and watering cans to play with too. And, a penguin (someone dressed up as one.. shh, don't tell the girls) came around to say hi. Clara said "penguin" so Mommy took her to say hi. She said "hi" and gave the penguin a high five and smiled. Emma wanted to see the penguin too, but when Mommy took her near him, she got scared. Of course, she kept saying "where did penguin go, penguin come back."

Bath time provided entertainment as the Gornstein gals showed their Frome swimming genes. Clara lay down on her belly and started moving her arms and legs and said "swimming" and Emma lay down right behind her.

Today, the gang headed over to Greenburgh Nature Center to walk around the grounds, which is free. Clara and Emma saw a goat and lots of turkeys being fed. They also saw an owl and two bald eagles. They were most excited by the prarie dogs that kept digging the dirt to make holes and crawl in them . Clara and Emma giggled when they'd pop out. There were also lots of little chipmunks running around. And, they got to visit the little farming area where Emma tasted a chive and had the opportunity to see strawberries growing. The woman offered it to Clara and Emma but they were scared, so Mommy washed it off and enjoyed a freshly picked one. There were also lots of raspberry bushes.

In the afternoon, the gang headed over to the Rikons' house for a bbq to celebrate Rebecca's birthday. Clara and Emma loved playing at the water table, and of course, the cake. Emma said "happy to you Becca" and Clara said "happy to you." Since it was hot, the ladies played inside for a bit, but Clara wanted to be outside, and stood at the door and said "outside."
