Staying Up Longer & Tranistioning to Cups

Clara and Emma continue to suprise Mommy and Daddy. On Sunday, they decided that because they were 1, they would sleep until 6:45 am and not need to nap until 9:45. This was unheard of in the Gornstein house. Usually Mommy could only keep them awake until 9- and sometimes, that was pushing it. After breakfast, Clara and Emma went on a walk with Mommy and Grandpa on the OCA and in the village. When Mommy and Grandpa stopped to get Daddy his bagel, Clara and Emma both wanted a bottle of water and played with it the entire walk home. Emma also decided she didn't want to be in the stroller and Mommy carried her most of the way back. Wht a workout! Clara and Emma played with Grandma and Grandpa Frome and said goodbye as it was time for them to travel back to DC.

Later in the day, friends came to celebrate Clara and Emma's birthday. Everyone enjoyed empanadas made by Grandma Gornstein.

On Monday, Mommy decided to try giving the ladies their formula in their straw cups. Emma took it and Clara burst out into tears. After crying hysterically for a few minutes, she picked it up and had some and then threw it down. Mommy put the rest in a bottle and they were both happy. Mommy thinks if Clara wasn't so upset, Emma would have kept going. Mommy did take a poll of other twin mommies with kids older to get a sense of how and when they did the transition.

They also seemed very hungry and shared a yogurt, a whole banana and cheerios. After a morning walk, Clara and Emma took a nap at 9:15 and slept until almost 11. Mommy isn't sure they are ready for 1 nap, especially if it only ends at 11.

Cherie arrived and shared some sad news that she will be taking a full time job with another family in two weeks. While everyone will miss her, Mommy promised to bring Clara and Emma on visits.

Mommy spent most of the day doing errands and clean up from the festivities. Clara and Emma had pita bread for the first time with cheese for lunch. They took a short afternoon nap at 1:30 and were tired in the afternoon.
