Like Mother, Like Daughters

The Gornstein girls made a return appearance to the pediatrician after Emma and Clara were both up with coughs much of the night. The doctor felt Clara's ear was responding to the antibiotic, but Emma -with her ear better- still has a sinus infection, so switched her antibiotic. However, he gave them some tylenol with codeine to help stop the cough at night and help them sleep. Of course, Clara will need to go back on Friday to get the ear checked out.

Later in the day, Mommy went to the ENT with Clara and Emma in tow. The doctor confirmed a very bad ear infection and needed to do a small surgical procedure in the office- a myringotemy. Picture Mommy in the chair, facing Clara and Emma sitting in chairs, sucking on a lollipop to keep them calm, asking Mommy a million questions about what was happening. Mommy kept telling the kids that she was okay. Mommy closed her eyes because it did hurt a bit despite the local anesthesia, and Emma said "Mommy, do you want me to hold your hand?" Emma was so happy to hold Mommy's hand and pranced around talking about it all afternoon.

It is really amazing how many medications the gals in the house have been on since November! The pharmacist smiled politely when Mommy handed her three new prescriptions when of course the last visit was just on Friday. Because the kids were really so good during Mommy's procudedure, after dropping the prescriptions off, the gals headed to get some frozen yogurt.

Tonight, Clara was so excited that it was Mommy that needed drops in her ear and not her! In fact, Daddy helped Clara and Emma put the drops in Mommy's ear. Mommy asked Emma to hold her hand and Emma responded "Mommy, I'm sorry. I can't right now. I have to help Daddy put your drops in. Don't worry. It won't hurt. You'll be okay."
