Mommy and Daddy were a little shaken. Mommy called the doctor's office and was told that a shiner was okay and if she wasn't throwing up and seemed like herself, she was fine, but to keep an eye on her. Clara's speech therapist, Roberta, came at 8 am. Soon after the session, Clara started pulling her ear. Mommy and Roberta were nervous that maybe a tube came out or something else was wrong. Roberta suggested Mommy call a neighbor who is a pediatric er doctor. Since Mommy had only met him a few times and Roberta knew him, she called and he was kind enough to come over. He gently examined Clara and gave her a clean bill of health. He said her bruised eye will probably change colors over the next few days and to give her a bit of tylenol or motrin to help with the swelling, but she was fine. He also said the bleeding was external and that she may have cut her ear when she fell, but it was fine too. Mommy was glad that she was examined and to hear that she was okay. A special thanks to Roberta and Dr. Rob!
The truth is that Mommy had heard about this happening to other kids, but like so many other things, didn't think it would happen here.
Mommy and Samantha took Clara and Emma to The Rivertown Play Group's Toddler Messy Art class in Hastings. Today, Clara and Emma got to experience the texture and feel of glue sticks and string and got to paint with watercolors. Clara LOVED the painting and knew right away how to hold the brush, dip it in the paint and put it on her paper-without anyone showing her. Emma kept saying "painting, painting."
After class, Mommy made a quick stop at Buy Buy Baby for some crib tents. Mommy knows that if Clara has one, Emma will want one too.
