Clara and Emma are 17 Months!

Clara and Emma are truly toddlers these days and as Grandma Frome puts it, "they seem to have read the book on how to be toddlers cover to cover."

It has been a month packed with activities, family, holidays and a little stomach bug.

Clara is getting into everything. Clara isn't using too many words and has four words. She seems to get frustrated if Mommy and Daddy don't understand her. Clara loves to go to friend's houses that are completely child proofed and being able to wander around aimlessly and go anywhere!

Emma started physical therapy and has started to take some steps independently. At the same time, she has followed in her Auntie Alyssa's footsteps as she occassionally walks on her knees. Her vocabulary continues to grow- and includes some Spanish. Yesterday, when wishing Grandma Gornstein a happy new year, Grandma said "hola" and Emma repeated it several times. She also repeated "uno" when Mommy said it the other day.

Mommy and Daddy are very pleased that the ladies are so sweet. They love giving (and getting) hugs and kisses to friends and family. They were very good when the met new cousin Michael and new friends Madeline and Jack. They also rub their noses together, give each other kisses and hugs and hold hands. It is one of those special joys of having twins is watching them interact together.

Both girls enjoy eating- although the both had some eating strikes during different stomach things this month. They have since made up for it. However, there are days when all they will eat is cheese or bread or fruit. Emma has started to drink more milk too and even says the word. They enjoy playing with their food and dropping it and their cups on the ground. They also still enjoy eating out, but also are doing well at sitting in their boosters at the table with friends and family and eating their meals. They love using their forks and spoons too.

Clara and Emma love to read. Mommy loves when she comes in to the room and they are both reading books-either together or separately. They love the books "Five Ducks," "Ten Little Ladybugs," "B is for Bear," and "Lullaby and Goodnight." They seem to enjoy the books where they can touch different textures or do something.

Toys... oh the toys Clara and Emma have these days! They love the snap beads and making funny faces when they are trying to take them apart. They love their babies and Elmo- and enjoy putting them in their strollers and pushing them (especially Clara). They like their new mower (which is a modern day corn popper). They both still enjoy the mega blox (both sets), their purses and the cell phones that come with them, the tunnel, and all of the shakers and anything musical. This month, Mommy brought out some of the art supplies for the ladies. Clara and Emma love to color. They also enjoy using the pen and stamps that come on the Crayola Beginnings board. Both could play with the ride on Elmo toy for hours and try to ride it together and push each other off of it. Of course, the newspaper, magazines, ads and the storage cube also seem to provide lots of fun for them.

Both ladies enjoy a limited amount of tv, and love Jack's Big Music Show, Yo Gabba Gabba and Sesame Street. They also enjoy the dvd from Argentina which is about a farm and its animals--in Spanish, of course.
Clara and Emma appreciated the holidays more this year, and enjoyed helping to light the menorah, eating latkes, playing dreidel and read their Hanukkah books. Of course, they loved opening all of their gifts.

Emma has 12 teeth, which includes the molars and seems to be working on the "I" teeth. Clara still has her 16 teeth but may be getting the 2 year molars early.
