Clara and Emma are 6 Months Old!

It is hard to believe that Clara and Emma are six months old!

Clara continued to sleep through the night and found it easy to put herself to sleep for naps. She still puts one finger in her mouth to suck and rolls to her side to soothe herself. She generally sleeps on her tummy now too. Earlier this month, Clara and Emma were put in separate cribs. and both loved their own space. Clara generally wakes up around 6-630, takes a nap from 8-9, plays for a few hours, followed by another nap from 11-1 ish, more playtime and hopefully, another nap at around 3-330, which is followed by more playtime and the bedtime routine.
Clara enjoys joining her sister in the morning, especially to visit the mobile and fun mirror in Emma's crib. Clara loves rolling and sometimes just keeps going- rolling over or around her sister. Mommy sings the song "Rolling" because it is funny how much she enjoys it. Clara laughs when Mommy dances for her- often during cranky time to keep her entertained. Clara's favorite toys include the exersaucer- she still loves the blue bear and puts in her mouth. She loves trying to ride the subway on the exersaucer- she pulls the ring and music plays. She still loves the blue elephant, o-ball, and enjoys playing with Octi, the orange octopus, and the monkey on the mat. Everything goes in her mouth still, especially her toes and sometimes, those of her sister. Clara enjoys flying with Mommy and being a bat (held upside down). Mommy calls Clara "cashew," because it is bigger than a peanut- which is Emma's nickname. She continues to "talk" and is often fond of screaming.

Emma learned to sleep through the night at the beginning of the month. It only took a few nights of minimal crying and the middle of the night waking ended. Emma has also been rolling everywhere. Emma has a tough time soothing herself and cries when she goes down for a nap, but does get to sleep. She is on the same schedule as Clara (usually). Emma has been cranky and it may be teething or her reflux. Emma's favorite toys include the phone on the exersaucer. She also loves Big Bird and Octi and tries to hug them if they are nearby. All toys and hands and feet, even if they aren't hers, go in her mouth. She still enjoys her mobile and likes looking at herself in the crib mirror. Emma also found her voice this month. Emma had mostly been making noise with her mouth shut and then she learned to talk like Clara- she is a true Frome/Gornstein girl. If you've noticed, Emma smiles often and when she does, it is with her mouth wide open. Emma loves people- looking at them and smiling back. In fact, Mommy found that if Emma stares out a cafe window at people walking by, she is entertained for at least 20 minutes. Mommy calls Emma "peanut," and Daddy often refers to her as "monkey" but in the last few weeks, as Emma's cheeks have filled out, he thinks she is more of a squirrel.

The girls both enjoyed play dates with a few sets of twins and loved the play dates with the older kids in the building. They also loved reading the paper with Daddy - especially the ripping part. Clara and Emma had visits from both sets of Grandparents and spent time with Aunt Alyssa this month. Also, both girls like blowing bubbles and raspberries.
