Magic Wands and Glen Echo Carousel

It was a fun day in Maryland for Clara and Emma.

After a visit to the park, where Clara went down the slide herself and announced "I did it," it was off to Congressional Plaza for the monthly Mommy and Me event. They waited in a short line to get ballons made and got elmo ballons- now these animal balloons were advanced- butterflies, dogs etc - it was really cool. Clara and Emma enjoyed making pasta necklaces, hearing a story, learning ballet and more! They also got windmills that Emma called "magic wands." The gals enjoyed noodles and macaroni and cheese for lunch. Grandpa headed off to the gym and Grandma headed home with Mommy, Clara and Emma. However, something was wrong with the garage door and Grandma had given her car keys to Grandpa, so the gang was locked out. Mommy didn't know what to do since it was nap time, and of course, it was hot. So, Mommy drove around and was glad that Clara quickly fell asleep, but felt bad that Emma kept saying "I need blankie, I need hippo, I tired." Mommy knew that Emma couldn't fall asleep without her blankie and hippo, so decided to drive to Glen Echo and do the carousel. It was fun to ride the carousel sitting on the seats with Grandma. Clara was fascinated with the music and the horses. Emma danced to the music too!

On the way home, Emma was exhaused and finally fell asleep. Mommy headed home and was glad that the garage door worked! Mommy took both ladies up to their room and put them down. Clara probably slept for a ten minutes, but Emma slept for another hour.

Late in the day, Clara and Emma enjoyed visits with Maria Shire (Grandma and Grandpa's next door neighbor) and cousin Benjamin Standig. What a day!
